Effectiveness of polyethylene cover versus other care for the prevention of eye injury in intensive care unit patients

Abstract

Objective: to systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of polyethylene cover versus other care for the prevention of eye injuries in patients in the intensive care unit. Materials and Method: Systematic Review, articles with complete content submitted to a reading critique, the recommendation will be made using the GRADE system. Results: Of 10 scientific articles, (20%) Mexico, continuing with Saudi Arabia (20%), then China (10%), United Kingdom (10%), Brazil (10%), Canada (10%), Peru ( 10%), Turkey (10%), The quality of the evidence, 90% (n=09/10) are of high evidence. 60% (n=06/10) of the articles are systematic reviews, followed by 20% (n=02/10) randomized controlled trials, 10% (n=01/10) Meta-analysis and 10% (n=01/10) remaining are from a cohort study. Of a total of 10 articles reviewed, 90% (n=09/10) of these show that the polyethylene cover is more effective compared to other care for the prevention of eye injuries in patients in the intensive care unit. Conclusions : In 9 of the 10 articles it is evident that the polyethylene cover is more effective for the prevention of eye injuries in patients in the intensive care unit.

Objetivo: sistematizar las evidencias sobre la efectividad de la cubierta de polietileno versus otros cuidados para la prevención de lesiones oculares en pacientes de la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Materiales y Método: Revisión Sistemática, los artículos con contenido completo sometidos a una crítica de lectura, la recomendación se hará utilizando el sistema GRADE. Resultados: De 10 artículos científicos, (20%) México, continuando con Arabia Saudita (20%), luego China (10%), Reino Unido (10%), Brasil (10%), Canadá (10%), Perú (10%), Turquía (10%), La calidad de la evidencia, el 90% (n=09/10) son de alta evidencia. El 60% (n=06/10) de los artículos son revisiones sistemáticas, seguidas de un 20 % (n=02/10) en ensayo controlado aleatorizado, un 10 % (n=01/10) de Meta análisis y 10 % (n=01/10) restantes son de estudio de cohorte. De un total de 10 artículos revisados, el 90% (n=09/10) de estos muestran que la cubierta de polietileno es más efectiva a comparación de otros cuidados para la prevención de lesiones oculares en pacientes de la unidad de cuidados intensivos, Conclusiones: En 9 de los 10 artículos se evidencia que la cubierta de polietileno es más efectiva para la prevención de lesiones oculares en pacientes de la unidad de cuidados intensivos.
