Vegetable oil as a substitute for xylol in the deparafinting action in routinehistotechnological stains. Lima 2021

Abstract

Over the years, xylene, commercially known as xylol, has become the most used clearing agent in histotechnological procedures for the deparaffinization of histological sections for staining. However, the toxic effects of this reagent can cause various diseases in the bodies of histotechnology professionals, such as skin irritation, erythema, and dryness, as well as respiratory difficulties. Due to this, research is underway to find less toxic substitutes for the health of professionals and the environment. This study proposes the use of vegetable oil as a deparaffinizing agent to replace xylene in these processes.

A través de los años el xileno conocido comercialmente como xilol, se ha convertido en el aclarante más utilizado en los procedimientos histotecnológicos, en la desparafinización de las secciones histológicas para sus coloraciones respectivas. Pero los efectos tóxicos de este reactivo, va a causar diversas enfermedades en el organismo de los profesionales que trabajan en los laboratorios de histotecnología, como por ejemplo en la piel produce irritación, eritema y sequedad, en el sistema respiratorio produce dificultades para respirar. Por estas razones en la búsqueda de sustitutos que sean menos tóxicos para la salud de los profesionales y el medio ambiente se presenta el siguiente proyecto de investigación, utilizando el aceite vegetal como desparafinante y así poder reemplazar al xilol en estos procesos
