Coping strategies and overload in the family caregiver of the schizophrenic patient at the Jesús Nazareno Kuska Wiñarisun Community Mental Health Center, Ayacucho 2024

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between coping strategies and overload of the family caregiver of a schizophrenic patient at the Jesús Nazareno "Kusca Wiñarisun" Community Mental Health Center, Ayacucho 2024. Material and Method: this research study is of the hypothetical deductive method, type applied with a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, descriptive correlational - cross-sectional. The population will be made up of 80 family caregivers who are in charge of caring for patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and who come to receive outpatient care. For data collection, the survey technique will be used, where 2 instruments will be applied, which are the "Coping Strategies Inventory" CSI, which consists of 40 items with a Likert-type scale whose dimensions are: Problem solving, Self-criticism, Expression. Emotional, Wishful Thinking, Social Support, Cognitive Restructuring, Problem Avoidance and Social Withdrawal The following instrument is the "Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale" which consists of 22 items whose dimensions are the impact of care, quality of the interpersonal relationship and self-efficacy expectations. Both instruments have validity and reliability values, allowing to ensure that the instrument is reliable and suitable for its application.

Material y Método: el presente estudio de investigación es de método hipotético deductivo, tipo aplicada con enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental, descriptivo correlacional - transversal. La población estará conformada por 80 cuidadores familiares que tienen a su cargo el cuidado de pacientes con diagnóstico de esquizofrenia y acuden a recibir atención ambulatoria. Para la recolección de datos se utilizará la técnica de la encuesta, donde se aplicará 2 instrumentos los cuales son “Inventario de Estrategias de Afrontamiento” CSI el cual consta de 40 ítems con escala tipo Likert cuyas dimensiones son: Resolución de problemas, Autocritica, Expresión emocional, Pensamiento desiderativo, Apoyo social, Reestructuración cognitiva, Evitación de problemas y Retirada social. El siguiente instrumento es la “Escala de sobrecarga del cuidador de Zarit el cual consta de 22 ítems cuyas dimensiones son el impacto del cuidado, calidad de la relación interpersonal y expectativas de autoeficacia. Ambos instrumentos cuentan con valores de validez y confiabilidad permitiendo asegurar que el instrumento es confiable y apto para su aplicación.
