In vitro evaluation of the antibacterial capacity of sealants endodontics based on epoxy resin and calcium hydroxide versus Enterococcus faecalis

| dc.description.abstract | The objective of this research was to determine, through an in vitro study, the antibacterial capacity of an epoxy resin and calcium hydroxide-based endodontic sealer against Enterococcus Faecalis. Materials and Methods: The antibacterial capacity was evaluated using the disc diffusion test. For this, 14 Petri dishes were prepared with the culture medium (Mueller Hinton Agar) and left to gel for 24 hours before inoculating Enterococcus Faecalis ATCC 29212 using the swab technique. Then, 4 cavities of 5 mm in diameter were made, where the epoxy resin-based endodontic sealer (Vioseal), calcium hydroxide-based sealer (Sealer 26), negative control (physiological serum), and positive control (2% chlorhexidine gluconate) were placed. The reading of the bacterial inhibition zones was performed using a digital caliper at 2, 24, 48, and 72 hours. Vioseal showed the greatest statistically significant antibacterial capacity when compared to Sealer 26 (p < 0.05). In conclusion, 2% chlorhexidine gluconate demonstrated the highest antibacterial capacity, followed by Vioseal and Sealer, respectively. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo: determinar mediante un estudio in vitro la capacidad antibacteriana del sellador endodóntico a base de resina epoxi e hidróxido de calcio frente a Enterococcus Faecalis. Materiales y métodos: La capacidad antibacteriana se evaluó por medio de la prueba de difusión en disco, para ello, en 14 placas Petri se prepararon el medio de cultivo (Agar Mueller Hinton) y se dejó gelificar durante 24 horas hasta la inoculación del Enterococus Faecalis ATCC 29212 mediante la técnica del hisopado, posteriormente se realizaron 4 cavidades de 5 mm de diámetro donde se colocaron el sellador endodóntico a base de resina epoxi (Vioseal), a base de hidróxido de calcio (Sealer 26), control negativo (suero fisiológico) y control positivo (Gluconato de clorhexidina al 2%); la lectura de las diagonales de las zonas de inhibición bacteriana se realizaron mediante un calibrador digital durante 2, 24, 48 y 72 horas. El Vioseal presentó mayor capacidad antibacteriana estadísticamente significativa cuando se comparó con el Sealer 26 (p<0.05). En conclusión el gluconato de clorhexidina al 2% presentó la mayor capacidad antibacteriana seguida del Vioseal y Sealer respectivamente. | es_ES |
