Methodology: An instrument was created to measure knowledge and practices regarding tooth loss due to dentoalveolar trauma. The questionnaire consisted of 8 closed-ended multiple-choice questions. After creating the instrument, it was validated by expert judgment. Authorization was obtained from the manager of the Virgen del Carmen health center to carry out the study. Once in the facility, the parents were informed about the study and invited to participate. Parents who agreed to participate signed the informed consent form before being provided with the questionnaire. Results: Among the results, 52.2% of the parents mentioned that it is important to find the avulsed tooth, 44.6% mentioned that an avulsed tooth can be replanted, 50% said that if a dental avulsion occurred, they would go to a dentist, 51.1% mentioned that the avulsed tooth should be held by the crown, 32.6% mentioned that avulsed teeth should be reimplanted immediately, and 25% mentioned that avulsed teeth should be transported in milk or in the child's mouth. Conclusion: 67.4% of the parents who visited the Virgen del Carmen health center in the Villa El Salvador district exhibited low knowledge regarding tooth loss due to dentoalveolar trauma, while 32.6% had a regular level of knowledge.
Resumen
Metodología: Se creo un instrumento para medir el conocimiento y práctica frente a la pérdida de un diente por traumatismo dentoalveolar, el cuestionario estuvo conformado por 8 preguntas cerradas de opciones múltiples, luego de crear el instrumento este fue validado por juicio de expertos. Para ingresar al Tópico Virgen del Carmen se solicitó autorización al gerente de dicha institución. Una vez en el tópico se procedió a conversar con los padres y hacerles mención del estudio que se realizaría. Así mismo, invitarlas a ser partícipe de la misma. Los padres que desearon participaron firmaron su consentimiento informado antes de brindarles el cuestionario que deberían responder. Resultados: Entre los resultados se encontró que el 52.2% de los padres mencionaron que es importante encontrar el diente que fue avulsionado, el 44.6% mencionaron que un diente avulsionado puede ser reimplantado, el 50% mencionaron que, si ocurriera una avulsión dental, ellos irían donde un odontólogo, el 51.1% mencionaron que el diente avulsionado debería ser sujetado por la corona, el 32.6% mencionaron que los dientes avulsionados deben reimplantarse inmediatamente, el 25% mencionaron que los dientes avulsionados deben transportarse en leche o en la boca del niño. Conclusión: El 67.4% de los padres que acudieron al tópico Virgen del Carmen, del distrito de Villa el Salvador presentaron un conocimiento bajo frente a la pérdida de un diente por traumatismo dentoalveolar.
