Level of knowledge and nursing care in the prevention of eye injuries in patients under mechanical ventilation at a hospital in Lima

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and nursing care in the prevention of eye injuries in patients on mechanical ventilation in a hospital in Lima. Material and method: The methods used in the academic work will be of a basic prototype and a quantitative approach that will be carried out in the ICU area of a hospital in Lima, the population will be made up of 84 nurses. The work variables will be measured through the interview and the questionnaire as an instrument applied to the nurses whose answers will be yes, no, all and none respectively; finally, the data treatment will be executed through the SPSS program to demonstrate its results.

El personal de enfermería tiene como una de sus funciones el cuidado ocular del paciente, esta es vital en el área UCI, con un procedimiento sencillo y con resultados favorables en el desarrollo de los pacientes. A la fecha están reconocidas como un cuidado esencial, sin embargo, existen pocas evidencias disponibles que comparen la eficacia del nivel de conocimiento y la atención del personal de enfermería en la prevención de traumatismos en la visión, por lo que existe una escasez de guías disponibles fundamentadas en evidencias para la atención ocular, cabe resaltar que una gran cantidad de áreas UCI no se ejecutan los protocolos para el cuidado y la protección ocular.
