Knowledge about breastfeeding and practices in mothers of children under 6 months old who are treated in the pediatric service of a public hospital in Lima, 2024

Abstract

Introduction: Breastfeeding is the ideal way to feed babies for the first six months of life. It provides all the nutrients a baby needs to grow and develop healthily, as well as protecting against disease. Objective: "To determine how knowledge about breastfeeding is related to breastfeeding practices in mothers of children under 6 months of age seen in the pediatrics service". Methodology: Our research will employ an applied methodology, using a quantitative approach and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. We will collect data from 133 mothers of children under 6 months of age by administering two instruments that have been validated and tested as reliable. Once completed, the data will be collected, coded and recorded in a data matrix. Statistical analysis will be performed using SPSS 26.0 software, employing both descriptive and inferential techniques. Spearman's Rho test will be used to validate and verify the hypotheses of the study, allowing us to draw accurate conclusions about the measurement of variables.

Objetivo: “Determinar cómo el conocimiento sobre la lactancia materna se relaciona con las prácticas en madres de niños menores de 6 meses que se atienden en el servicio de pediatría”. Metodología: Nuestra investigación empleará una metodología aplicada, utilizando un enfoque cuantitativo y un diseño transversal no experimental. Recopilaremos datos de 133 madres de niños menores de 6 meses mediante la administración de dos instrumentos que han sido validados y probados como confiables. Una vez que se hayan completado, los datos se recopilarán, codificarán y registrarán en una matriz de datos. El análisis estadístico se realizará utilizando el programa SPSS 26.0, empleando técnicas tanto descriptivas como inferenciales. Se utilizará la prueba Rho de Spearman para validar y verificar las hipótesis del estudio, permitiéndonos sacar conclusiones precisas sobre la medición de variables.
