Nutritional status in children under 5 years of age attending the CRED consulting room of the Peru Health Center 3 zone of the SMP district 2019

Abstract

Objective: Determine the nutritional status of children under 5 years of age who attend the CRED control of the Peru 3 health center zone of the SMP district, 2019. Material and method: Descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study, carried out on 200 children under 5 years of age. 5 years. The technique used was in relation to the measurement of weight (kg) and height in (cm), with the Anthropometric Assessment Growth Curves, established by the Ministry of Health of Peru. Results: 71.5% and 14% belonged to the age group of the age range of 0-12 months and 13-24 months, respectively. For the weight/age component, 31 (15.5%) children had inadequate gain; 8 (4%) were overweight; and 1 (0.5%) had obesity. For the height/age component, 32 (16%) had inadequate gain; and 1 (0.5%) was overweight. For the weight/height component, 7 (3.5%) had inadequate gain; 10 (5%) were overweight; and only 1 (0.5%) presented obesity. Nutritional status mainly affected children aged 0-12 (8.7%) months, followed by children aged 14-24 months (3.8%). Conclusion: About half of children under 5 years of age who attend the CRED control of the Peru III health center SMP 2019 zone had an inadequate nutritional status.

Objetivo: Determinar el estado nutricional de los niños menores de 5 años que asisten al control CRED del centro de salud Perú 3 zona del distrito SMP, 2019. Material y método: Estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal, retrospectivo, realizado en 200 niños menores de 5 años. La técnica utilizada fue en relación a la medida de peso (kg) y talla en (cm), con las Curvas de Crecimiento de Valoración Antropométrica, establecidas por el Ministerio de Salud del Perú. Resultados: El 71.5% y el 14% pertenecieron al grupo etario del rango de edad de 0-12 meses y 13-24 meses, respectivamente. Para el componente peso/edad, 31 (15.5%) niños tuvieron ganancia inadecuada; 8 (4%) tuvieron sobrepeso; y 1(0.5%) tuvo obesidad. Para el componente talla/edad, 32 (16%) tuvieron ganancia inadecuada; y 1 (0.5%) tuvo sobrepeso. Para el componente peso/talla, 7 (3.5%) tuvieron ganancia inadecuada; 10 (5%) tuvieron sobrepeso; y solo 1 (0.5%) presentó obesidad. El estado nutricional afectó principalmente a los niños de 0-12 (8.7%) meses, seguidos de los niños de 14-24 meses (3.8%). Conclusión: Cerca la mitad de niños menores de 5 años que asisten al control CRED del centro de salud Perú III zona SMP 2019 tuvieron un estado nutricional inadecuado.
