Job satisfaction and its relationship with the professional performance of the nurse who works in the operating room during the COVID-19 pandemic in a public hospital in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the relationship between the impact of job satisfaction and the professional performance of the nurse who works in the Operating Room of a public hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and method: The focus of the study corresponds to quantitative research, non-experimental, descriptive, and correlational design. The study sample will comprise all 45 nurses who work in the Gyneco-obstetric operating room service of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, distributed in two rooms. For the selection, the inclusion and exclusion criteria will be applied. Data collection will be carried out using the structured interview technique to inquire about the knowledge about the study variables. Two instruments will be used, for variable 1 the “Herzberg Job Satisfaction Test” will be used, which consists of 27 items measured at 3 Likert-type levels; for variable 2, the “Labor Performance Survey” will be used, which contains 12 items that measure 3 dimensions on a Likert scale. Both instruments were validated and tested for reliability with optimal results in previous studies. The data will be processed in the statistical program SPSS v. 22.0, the results will be presented in descriptive tables and, for the correlation of the variables, the Spearman correlation coefficient will be used, since they are ordinal variables.

Objetivo: Analizar la relación entre el impacto de la satisfacción laboral y el desempeño profesional del enfermero que labora en Sala de Operaciones de un hospital público durante la pandemia COVID-19. Material y método: El enfoque del estudio corresponde a la investigación cuantitativa, de diseño no experimental, descriptivo, y correlacional. La muestra de estudio comprenderá la totalidad de enfermeros y enfermeras que son 45 que laboran en el servicio de Sala de operaciones Gineco-obstétrico del Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, distribuidos en dos salas. Para la selección se aplicarán los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. La recolección de datos se realizará mediante la técnica de la entrevista estructurada para indagar los conocimientos acerca de las variables de estudio. Se hará uso de dos instrumentos, para la variable 1 se utilizará el “Test de Satisfacción Laboral de Herzberg”, que consta de 27 ítems medidos en 3 niveles tipo Likert; para la variable 2 se hará uso de la “Encuesta de Desempeño Laboral”, que contiene 12 ítems que miden 3 dimensiones en una escala Likert. Ambos instrumentos fueron validados y sometidos a pruebas de confiabilidad con resultados óptimos en estudios previos. Los datos se procesarán en programa estadístico SPSS v. 22.0, los resultados se presentarán en tablas descriptivas y, para la correlación de las variables se usará el Coeficiente de correlación de Spearman, por tratarse de variables ordinales.
