Functional capacity associated with the risk of falls in older adults in a private rehabilitation center in Lima, 2023

Abstract

The present research study aimed to determine the relationship between Functional Capacity and the risk of falls in elderly adults attending a rehabilitation center in Lima in 2023. It was a quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional research project, involving 80 individuals aged 65 to 79, selected through a census sampling method. Two instruments were used to measure the variables: the Barthel Index for Functional Capacity and the Tinetti Scale for fall risk.

El presente estudio de investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre la Capacidad funcional y el riesgo de caídas en adultos mayores que asisten a un centro de rehabilitación de Lina 2023. Fue un trabajo de investigación cuantitativa, correlacional y de corte transversal, tuvo una participación de 80 personas en edades de mayor o igual a 65 hasta los 79 años a los cuales se les selecciono por medio de un muestreo censal. Para medir las variables se utilizó dos instrumentos, en el caso de Capacidad funcional se hizo uso de la Escala de Barthel y para la variable riesgo decaídas se hizo uso de la Escala de Tinetti.
