Cognitive deterioration and depression in elderly patients in the medicine area of ​​the Hospital de Barranca 2022

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between cognitive impairment and depression in older adult patients in the medicine area of the Barranca Hospital. Methodology: The type of research will correspond to the applied one, the approach is quantitative, and the outlined design will be observational, correlational level, and cross-sectional. Population and Sample: The sample addressed corresponds to 60 geriatric patients, which was determined by a non-probabilistic method - for the convenience of the researcher. The respective tools will be applied to said sample in the period from November to December 2022. Technique and Instruments: The technique to be applied will be the survey and the respective psychometric tool corresponds to the Mini Mental State Examination Test and the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale, which have a reliability equivalent to 0.70 and 0.80 respectively. Data processing and analysis: The data will be entered into an Excel template for classification and control, being processed, and the relationship between the variables treated in the research will be established, through the Chi Square statistical test since the study has qualitative variables.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el Deterioro Cognitivo y la Depresión en pacientes Adultos Mayores del área de medicina del Hospital de Barranca. Metodología: El tipo de investigación corresponderá a la aplicada, el enfoque es cuantitativo, y el diseño esbozado será observacional, de nivel correlacional, y de corte transversal. Población y Muestra: la muestra abordada corresponde a 60 pacientes gerontos, el que fuese determinado por método no probabilístico - por conveniencia de la investigadora, A dicha muestra se le aplicará las herramientas respectivas en periodo comprendido de noviembre a diciembre del 2022. Técnica e Instrumentos: la técnica a aplicarse será la encuesta y la herramienta psicométrica respectiva corresponden a el Test de Mini Mental State Examination y a la Escala de Depresión Geriátrica Yesavage y las mismas que cuentan con una confiabilidad equivalente a 0,70 y 0,80 respectivamente. Procesamiento y análisis de datos: la data será consignada en una plantilla excel para su clasificación y control, siendo procesada, y se establecerá la relación existente entre las variables tratadas en la investigación, por medio de la prueba de estadística de Chi Cuadrado por contar el estudio con variables cualitativas.
