Knowledge and practice of prevention measures for pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation of the nurse in the intensive care unit of the health establishment Lima, 2022

Abstract

Pneumonia is a disease that attacks the respiratory system, if it is not detected in time, it can be a serious disease that can be fatal, especially in the elderly and among the immunocompromised. With regard to pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation [NAVM (NAV)], it is included within infections associated with health care (IAAS) or also called "nosocomial or hospital" infections. Therefore, the preventive measures taken by health personnel are of great importance to preserve the health of patients. Objective: Determine the relationship that exists between knowledge and practice on measures for prevention of pneumonia associated to mechanical ventilation of professionals of nursing of the Intensive Care Unit of the health facility Lima, 2022. Methods: quantitative, applied, descriptive, correlational, non-experimental-transversal. The population will be made up of 80 nurses who work in the Intensive Care Unit. The data collection instruments to use will be the Knowledge questionnaire on preventive measures for pneumonia associated to mechanical ventilation and the list of collation for observation of nursing explosion practices in disease prevention. The data will be tabulated in Excel to be subsequently analyzed in the SPSS v 26 software where the descriptive and inferential analysis will be carried out to verify the research hypotheses, using the statistical test of the Pearson and Spearman contribution coefficient.

La neumonía es una enfermedad que ataca al sistema respiratorio, si no se detecta a tiempo, puede ser una enfermedad grave que puede llegar a ser mortal, especialmente en ancianos y entre los inmunodeprimidos. En lo que respecta a la neumonía asociada a la ventilación mecánica [NAVM (NAV)] se encuentra incluida dentro de las infecciones asociadas a la atención sanitaria (IAAS) o también llamadas infecciones “nosocomiales u hospitalarias“. Por lo cual las medidas preventivas que se tomen por parte del personal de salud son de gran importancia para preservar la salud de los pacientes. Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre el conocimiento y práctica de medidas de prevención de neumonías asociadas a ventilación mecánica del enfermero de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Establecimiento de Salud Lima, 2022. Métodos: cuantitativa, aplicada, descriptiva, correlacional, no experimental- transversal. La población estará conformada por 80 enfermeras que laboran en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos. Los instrumentos de recolección de datos a emplear serán el cuestionario de Conocimiento sobre las medidas preventivas de neumonía asociada a ventilación mecánica y la lista de cotejo para observación de las prácticas de intervenciones de enfermería en la prevención de la enfermedad. Los datos se tabularán en Excel para posteriormente analizarlos en el software SPSS v.26 donde se realizará el análisis descriptivo e inferencial para comprobar las hipótesis de la investigación, haciendo uso de la prueba estadística del coeficiente de correlación de Pearson y Spearman.
