Level of knowledge and practice of breastfeeding in first-time mothers in a hospital in Lima, 2024

Abstract

Understanding and properly applying knowledge about breastfeeding in new mothers is crucial to promoting the health and well-being of both mother and newborn. It fosters emotional bonding, strengthens the immune system and contributes to the overall development of the baby. The objective of the study is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice on breastfeeding in first-time mothers of a Hospital in Lima, 2024. The method will be hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative approach, applied, correlational level, with design nonexperimental and cross-sectional. The population is made up of 90 first-time mothers. To collect the information for variable 1, the questionnaire was considered, with 3 dimensions: basic aspects, breastfeeding technique and milk extraction-storage, made up of 20 items, with a KR 20 reliability of 0.885 and for variable 2, the observation sheet with 3 dimensions: before, during and after breastfeeding with 12 items and a KR20 reliability of 0.742. The data processing and analysis will proceed to create a database with the Excel spreadsheet program, subsequently it will be examined in the statistical software SPSS version 26, obtaining descriptive statistics of dispersion and central tendency, as well as inferences. Spearman correlation type.

La comprensión y aplicación adecuada de lactancia materna en madres primerizas es crucial para promover la salud y bienestar de la madre y el recién nacido. Fomenta el vínculo, fortalece el sistema inmunológico y contribuye al desarrollo integral del bebé. El Objetivo es determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y la práctica sobre lactancia materna en madres primerizas de un Hospital de Lima, 2024. El método será hipotético-deductivo, con enfoque cuantitativo, aplicada, de nivel correlacional, diseño no experimental y corte transversal. La población conformada por 90 madres primerizas. Para la recolección de información de la variable 1, se consideró el cuestionario, con 3 dimensiones: aspectos básicos, técnica de amamantamiento y extracción- almacenamiento de la leche, con 20 ítems, con una confiabilidad KR 20 de 0,885 y para la variable 2, la ficha de observación con 3 dimensiones: antes, durante y después de la lactancia materna con 12 ítems y una confiabilidad de KR20 de 0,742.El procesamiento y análisis de datos se procederá a realizar una base de datos con el programa de excel, posteriormente será examinada en el software estadístico SPSS, obteniendo estadísticas descriptivas de dispersión y de tendencia central, así como inferencias de tipo correlación de Spearman.
