Self- care capacity and quality of life in patients attending the hemodialysis unit at a national hospital in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Chronic Kidney Disease has a global prevalence of 10%, with 850 million people affected. Between 2.3 and 7.1 million die from not receiving hemodialysis treatment or kidney transplantation. Being a progressive, silent and incurable disease, it occurs mostly in the elderly and by leading an unhealthy lifestyle. The self-care capacity is a behavior that can be learned and that would solve the general, evolutionary and deviation needs of the patient's health. Hemodialysis patients often have physical, psychological, and social disorders that play an important role in reducing quality of life. Objective: To determine the relationship between self-care capacity and quality of life in patients attending the Hemodialysis Unit at a National Hospital in Lima, 2022 Methods: The research method is hypothetical deductive, cross-sectional, not experimental and quantitative. The survey will be applied to 300 patients with chronic kidney disease who attend the Hemodialysis Unit in a National Hospital. In addition, once applied, the work will be tabulated and processed by the SPPS V26 program, and ranges of results will also be used for each variable.

Introducción: La Enfermedad Renal Crónica tiene una prevalencia global del 10%, con 850 millones de personas afectadas. Entre 2,3 y 7,1 millones mueren por no recibir tratamiento de hemodiálisis o trasplante renal. Al ser una enfermedad progresiva, silenciosa e incurable, se presenta mayoritariamente en personas de la tercera edad y por llevar un estilo de vida poco saludable. La capacidad de autocuidado es un comportamiento que se puede aprender y que resolvería las necesidades generales, evolutivas y de desviación de la salud del paciente. Los pacientes en hemodiálisis a menudo presentan trastornos físicos, psicológicos y sociales que juegan un papel importante en la reducción de la calidad de vida. Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre la capacidad de autocuidado y la calidad de vida en los pacientes que asisten a la Unidad de Hemodiálisis en un Hospital Nacional de Lima, 2022 Métodos: El método de investigación es hipotético deductivo, de corte transversal, no experimental y cuantitativa. Se aplicará la encuesta a 300 pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica que acuden a la Unidad de Hemodiálisis en un Hospital Nacional. Además, una vez aplicado el trabajo será tabulado y procesado por el programa SPPS V26, y también usará rangos de resultados por cada variable
