Efficacy of conventional surgery versus laparoscopic surgery in patients with appendectomy

Abstract

Materials and methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, the search has been restricted to articles with full text and the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, using the Grade evaluation to identify their level of evidence. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, the majority having been analyzed according to research design: longitudinal studies with 50%, systematic review with 20%, descriptive studies with 20% and cohort studies with 10%. Results: It was evident in the research reviewed that 70% of the effectiveness of laparoscopic surgery is greater than conventional surgery, since the results presented benefits in terms of decreased hospital stay (60%), less pain in the recovery (40%) and prompt reintegration to daily activities (30%), on the other hand, 30% of the studies reveal that both procedures are effective, and that although the laparoscopic approach presents fewer alterations in the surgical wound It still presents a higher economic cost compared to the conventional one, and in terms of the other variables, no major difference was found in both procedures. Conclusion: It is concluded that laparoscopic surgery is more effective compared to conventional surgery since it presents greater benefits.

Materiales y métodos: Revisión sistemática observacional y retrospectivo, la búsqueda se ha restringido a artículos con texto completo y los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a una lectura crítica, utilizando la evaluación Grade para identificar su grado de evidencia. En la selección definitiva se eligieron 10 artículos, habiéndose analizado en su mayoría según diseño de investigación los estudios longitudinales con un 50%, revisión sistemática en un 20%, descriptivo en un 20% y de cohorte en un 10%. Resultados: Se evidencio en las investigaciones revisadas que el 70 % que existe mayor eficacia de la cirugía laparoscópica en relación a la cirugía convencional, ya que los resultados presentaron beneficios en cuanto a la disminución de estancia intrahospitalaria (60%), menor dolor en la recuperación (40%) y pronta reintegración a las actividades cotidianas (30%), por otro lado un 30% de los estudios revelan que ambos procedimientos son eficaces, que si bien el abordaje laparoscópico presenta menos alteraciones en la herida quirúrgica no deja de presentar mayor coste económico en comparación con la convencional además en cuanto a las demás variables no se encontró mayor diferencia en ambos procedimientos Conclusión: Se concluye que la cirugía laparoscópica es más eficaz en comparación con la cirugía convencional ya que presenta mayores beneficios.
