Sociodemographic and family characteristics of mothers of children aged 6 to 36 months with anemia in the district of Santa Rosa

Abstract

Objective: Identify the sociodemographic and family characteristics of the mothers of children aged 6 to 36 months with anemia in the district of Santa Rosa. Material and methods: The methodological approach used was quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, prospective and descriptive. The sample was 114 mothers of children from 6 to 36 months of age with anemia, being selected by inclusion and exclusion criteria of the research. To measure sociodemographic and family characteristics, the Family Technical Sheet instrument was used, which includes 17 items grouped into 3 dimensions. A pilot test was carried out on 20 mothers, to demonstrate its reliability and validity. Results: In the sociodemographic characteristics, the mother's age of 25 years or older obtained 43%, marital status Married with 42.1%, level of education Secondary education with 54.4%, mothers who work dependently 36% and 63.2% have SIS insurance, and 50.9% have basic services with water, electricity and drainage. In the family characteristics, the Nuclear Family 56.1%, in terms of the Life Cycle the Extended Family obtained 85.1%, the age of the child was 12 to 24 months with 54.4%, the female sex It was predominant with 59.6%.Conclusions: There are sociodemographic and cultural characteristics of the family so that the child is susceptible to having anemia.

Objetivo: Identificar las características sociodemográficas y familiares de las madres de los niños (a) de 6 a 36 meses con anemia del distrito de Santa Rosa. Material y métodos: El enfoque metodológico utilizado fue cuantitativo, no experimental, transversal prospectivo y descriptivo. La muestra fueron 114 madres de niños (a) de 6 a 36 meses de edad con anemia, siendo seleccionadas por criterios de inclusión y exclusión de la investigación. Para medir las características sociodemográficas y familiares, se utilizó el instrumento de la Ficha Técnica Familiar este comprende 17 ítems agrupados en 3 dimensiones. Se realizó una prueba piloto a 20 madres de familia, para evidenciar su confiabilidad y validez. Resultados: En las características sociodemográficas la edad de la madre de 25 años a más obtuvo un 43%, estado civil Casadas con 42,1%, grado de instrucción educación Secundaria con 54,4%, madres que trabajan de forma dependiente 36% y cuenta con el seguro SIS 63,2%, en cuanto a servicios básicos el 50,9% con agua, luz y desagüe. En las características de familia, la Familia Nuclear 56,1%, en cuanto al Ciclo vital la Familia en extensión obtuvo un 85,1%, la edad del niño fue de 12 a 24 meses con un 54,4%, el sexo femenino fue predominante con 59,6%.Conclusiones: Existen características sociodemográficas y culturales de la familia para que el niño (a) sea susceptible a tener anemia.
