Overload of the informal primary caregiver of older adult patients hospitalized in the medicine service of Hospital II of Vitarte Essalud 2021.

Abstract

Introduction: According to the WHO (World Health Organization) and the INEI in Peru, the population of older adults has been increasing and this population is accompanied by various diseases and needs that must be addressed by families who are unprepared for this change, generating overload, especially in primary informal caregivers (caregivers without training or financial compensation), affecting their physical, biological, and social health. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the level of overload in primary informal caregivers of elderly hospitalized patients in the medicine service of Hospital II of Vitarte Essalud, 2021. Methodology: The study has a quantitative approach, descriptive, and cross-sectional design. The study population will include all caregivers of elderly hospitalized patients from the first trimester of 2021 who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. They will be administered the Zarit test. The data will be tabulated and processed statistically using the SPSS version 25 and Excel.

Introducción: Según la OMS (Organización Mundial de la Salud), y el INEI en el Perú, la población de adultos mayores se ha ido incrementando y esta población viene acompañado de distintas enfermedades y necesidades que debe ser atendidas por los familiares que no están preparadas para este cambio generando una sobrecarga principalmente en los cuidadores primarios informales (cuidadores sin capacitación ni retribución económica) afectando su salud física, bilógica y social. Por lo tanto, este trabajo tiene como Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de sobrecarga del cuidador primario informal de paciente adultos mayores hospitalizados en el servicio de medicina del Hospital II de Vitarte Essalud 2021. Metodología: El estudio tiene un enfoque cuantitativo, investigación de tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal. La población de estudio serán todos los cuidadores de pacientes adultos mayores hospitalizados del primer trimestre 2021 que cumplan los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, a los que se les realizara el test de Zarit. Los datos obtenidos serán tabulados y procesados estadísticamente, aplicando el paquete estadístico SPSS versión 25 y Excel.
