Level of knowledge about type ii diabetes mellitus and its relationship with lifestyles in users who attend a health center in El Agustino district, Lima 2023

Abstract

Knowledge about type 2 diabetes mellitus is the information that the individual obtains from his or her own experience or acquired about the clinical picture of diabetes mellitus and likewise take actions to control and prevent the disease. On the other hand, lifestyles are the set of attitudes and behaviors that people with diabetes mellitus adopt and develop to maintain standard metabolic control. This study will have as Objective: "To determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge about type II diabetes mellitus and lifestyles in users who attend a health center in the district, El Agustino, Lima 2023", the hypothetical deductive method, because it makes deductions about hypothetical situations to organize ideas that will later be filled in a general conclusion, responding to the initial problem, the quantitative approach, an experimental and cross-sectional design will also be applied, the sample was made up of 87 users who come to a health center in the district, El Agustino. Data collection technique and instrument: the questionnaire and its survey technique will be used as an instrument for both variables, these instruments were previously validated by Avellaneda and Hurtado in 2018. On the other hand, to process and analyze the data, it will be processed with the statistical program Microsoft Excel and SPSS V. 25. For the hypothesis test, the non-parametric chi-square test that seeks to relate two variables will be applied, the results will be shown in tables.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre diabetes mellitus tipo II con los estilos de vida en usuarios que acuden a un centro de salud en el distrito El Agustino Lima 2023. Material y métodos: El enfoque metodológico utilizado fue cuantitativo, hipotético deductivo y descriptivo correlacional. La muestra fueron 87 usuarios que asisten a un centro de salud en el distrito de El Agustino, siendo seleccionados por criterios de inclusión y exclusión de la investigación. Para medir el nivel de conocimiento de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y estilos de vida, se utilizó 2 instrumentos validados y con una buena confiabilidad, el primero consta de 18 ítems y el segundo cuestionario de 20 preguntas. Resultados: El 50,5% presentan edades de 18 a 30 años, el 27,5% entre 31 a 40 años; el 11,6% entre 41 a 50 años, y 10,4% de 51 años. El 22,9% son del sexo femenino y 47,1% masculino. Conclusiones: Al determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre diabetes mellitus tipo II con los estilos de vida en usuarios, el 37.9%, tiene estilos de vida medianamente saludables con nivel de conocimiento alto
