Knowledge of sharp-edged accident prevention and practices of the nursing staff of the Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz hospital, Lima 2023

Abstract

The present study "knowledge and practices of prevention of sharps accidents in the staff of the Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital, Lima 2023. The objective was to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices on prevention of sharps accidents in the nursing staff of the emergency department at the Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital. Materials and Methods: the research is quantitative, applied, correlational, nonexperimental and cross-sectional. The study population is 75 nurses working in the emergency department of the Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital, Lima 2023. Two instruments will be applied, a questionnaire for the first variable and an observation guide for the second variable. Validation was carried out through the method of expert judges, it was done through Pearson's R for both instruments achieving for each item a value greater than r>0.20, being a convenient validity for both instruments. Reliability was achieved through the Kuder Richardson statistical test, the questionnaire that assessed knowledge resulting in a value of 0.086 and for the checklist that assessed practices giving a value of 0.2, giving reliability for both instruments for their use in the research.

El Objetivo fue analizar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y prácticas sobre prevención de accidentes punzocortantes en el personal de enfermería del servicio de emergencias en el hospital Carlos Lanfranco la Hoz. Materiales y Métodos: la investigación es de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicativo, de alcance correlacional, de diseño no experimental y de corte transversal. La población de estudio son 75 enfermeros que laboran en el servicio de emergencias del Hospital Carlos Lanfranco la hoz, Lima 2023. Se aplicará dos instrumentos, para la primera variable es un cuestionario y para la segunda variable es una guía de observación. La validación se realizó a través del método de expertos jueces, se realizó a través de la R de Pearson para ambos instrumentos consiguiendo para cada ítem un valor mayor de r>0.20, siendo una validez conveniente para a ambos instrumentos. La confiabilidad se alcanzó mediante la prueba estadística Kuder Richardson, el cuestionario que valoró los conocimientos resultando como valor con 0.086 y para la lista de cotejo que evaluó las practicas dando como valor 0.2 dando la confiabilidad para ambos instrumentos para su utilización en la investigación.
