Effectiveness of hand hygiene with alcohol-based solution compared to other solutions in reducing bacterial flora in healthcare workers

Abstract

Objective: Systematize the effectiveness of hand hygiene with alcohol-based solution compared to other solutions for reducing the bacterial flora of health personnel. Material and Methods: Quantitative systematic review. Population 52 articles, sample 10 scientific articles, databases: Scielo, Pubmed, Elsevier. 100% quantitative study. According to the results obtained, 10% of the methodological design are systematic reviews, 70% experimental and 20% quasi-experimental; quality of evidence high in 10%, weak 70% and moderate 20%. Strong recommendation strength 10% and weak 90%. Results: According to the review of 100% (n=10/10) of the scientific articles, it was evident that 40% (n=4/10) indicate the effectiveness of hand hygiene with alcohol-based solution compared to other solutions. to reduce the bacterial flora in health personnel. 60% (n=6/10) say they are discordant. Conclusion: 4 articles point out the effectiveness of hand hygiene with alcohol-based solution compared to other solutions for reducing bacterial flora in health personnel; and, 6 articles point out that it is discordant.

Objetivo: Sistematizar la eficacia de higiene de manos con solución base alcohólica comparada con otras soluciones para la disminución de la flora bacteriana del personal de salud. Material y Métodos: Cuantitativo de revisión sistemática. Población 52 artículos, muestra 10 artículos científicos, bases datos: Scielo, Pubmed, Elsevier. Estudio cuantitativo 100%. Según resultados obtenidos, del diseño metodológico 10% son revisión sistemática, el 70% experimentales y 20% cuasi experimentales; calidad de evidencia alta en 10%, débil 70% y moderada 20%. Fuerza de recomendación fuerte 10% y débil 90%. Resultados: Según la revisión del 100% (n=10/10) de los artículos científicos, se evidenció, que el 40% (n=4/10) señalan la eficacia de higiene de manos con solución de base alcohólica comparado con otras soluciones para disminución de la flora bacteriana en el personal de salud. El 60% (n=6/10) señalan son discordantes. Conclusión: 4 artículos señalan la eficacia de la higiene de manos con solución de base alcohólica comparado con otras soluciones para la disminución de la flora bacteriana en el personal de salud; y, 6 artículos señalan es discordante.
