Motor function and social participation of people with cerebral palsy in the town of Yauli – La Oroya - Peru, 2022

Abstract

Introduction: Children and adolescents with cerebral palsy represent a significant population worldwide, nationally, and regionally with motor disabilities, often presenting physical impairments that limit their participation in society. In the province of Yauli – La Oroya, these limitations are exacerbated by a lack of information, access to recreational spaces, and societal discrimination, leading to the concealment of their condition by their families. Objective: To determine the relationship between motor function and social participation of individuals with cerebral palsy in the town of Yauli, Peru, 2022. Materials and Methods: This is a correlational, cross-sectional study. The sample consists of 40 children and adolescents diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The instruments used will be the GMFCS E & R (Gross Motor Function Classification System) and the CASP Children's and Adolescent's Participation Scale.

Introducción: Los niños y adolescentes con parálisis cerebral son una población importante a nivel mundial, nacional y regional de discapacidad motora, que frecuentemente presenta impedimentos físicos que conllevan a la limitación en su participación en su sociedad. En la provincia de Yauli – La Oroya estas limitaciones se potencian por la poca información, acceso a espacios de recreación y la discriminación de la población, dando como resultado el ocultamiento de sus familiares. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre función motora y participación social de personas con parálisis cerebral de la localidad de Yauli - Perú, 2022. Material y métodos: Este estudio es de diseño correlacional y transversal. La muestra estará comprendida de 40 niños y adolescentes con diagnóstico de parálisis cerebral. Los instrumentos a usarse serán el GMFCS E & R (Clasificación de la función motora gruesa) y la Escala de participación del niño y adolescente CASP.
