The Teaching Competencies and the Academic Performance of the students of the second specialty in Nephrology of a private university in Lima, 2021

Abstract

The objective of this research work was to determine the relationship between teaching competence and the academic performance of students of the second specialty of nephrology at a private university in Lima, 2021. The research had a quantitative approach, not experimental with a method hypothetical deductive. The study consisted of 80 students (nurses) of the second nephrological nursing specialty of a private university in Lima, using two questionnaires as an instrument whose purpose was to evaluate the level of teaching competence and the academic performance of the students. The results determined that there is a significant relationship between the teaching competencies and the academic performance of the students of the second specialty of nephrology of a private university in Lima with a significance p = 0.000 <0.05; in addition to a Spearman coefficient of 0.974. It was concluded that there is a significant and positive relationship between teaching competence and the academic performance of students in the second specialty of nephrology.

El presente estudio de investigación parte del objetivo determinar la relación que existe entre competencia docente y el desempeño académico de los estudiantes de la segunda especialidad de nefrología de una universidad privada de Lima, 2021. La investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental con un método hipotético deductivo. El estudio estuvo conformado por 80 estudiantes (enfermeras) de la segunda especialidad de enfermería nefrológica de una universidad privadas de Lima, utilizando como instrumento dos cuestionarios cuya finalidad fue evaluar el nivel de competencia docente y el desempeño académico de los estudiantes. Los resultados determinaron que existe una relación significativa entre las competencias docentes y el desempeño académico de los estudiantes de la segunda especialidad de nefrología de una universidad privada de Lima con una significancia p = 0,000 < 0,05; además de un coeficiente de Spearman de 0,974. Determinándose que hay una relación significativa y positiva entre competencia docente y el desempeño académico de los estudiantes de la segunda especialidad en nefrología.
