Knowledge and preventive practices on cervical cancer in patients of the regional Institute Of Neoplastic Diseases Arequipa 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Cervical cancer, according to the World Health Organization, ranks fourth among those that most affect women, with an approximate incidence of 604,000 cases in 2020. Among the 342,000 deaths estimated by that cause in 2020, more than 90% occurred in low and middle-income countries. Precisely, at the national and local level it is pointed out that a low culture of prevention prevails in the population, so it could be assumed that the improvement in the level of knowledge would be related to a greater practice of preventive measures in this regard. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and prevention practices on cervical cancer in patients of the Regional Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, Arequipa 2023. Methodology: The method will be hypothetical deductive, quantitative approach, applied type research, cross-sectional correlational design. The study population and sample will be made up of 85 women, with non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. For the processing and analysis of data from the survey, the information collected will first be systematized. Then, the descriptive statistical analysis will be carried out to obtain the frequency distribution of the variables and their dimensions. For the hypothesis test, based on the parametric distribution of the data, the Spearman's rho correlation coefficient will be used. The support for said processing will be provided by the SPSS version 26.0 software

Introducción: El cáncer de cuello uterino, de acuerdo con la Organización Mundial de la Salud, ocupa el cuarto lugar entre los que más afectan a las mujeres, con una incidencia aproximada de 604 000 casos en 2020. Entre los 342 000 decesos estimados por esa causa en el 2020, más del 90% ocurrió en países de ingresos bajos y medianos. Precisamente, en el ámbito nacional y local se señala que predomina una escasa cultura de prevención en la población, por lo que se podría suponer que la mejora del nivel de conocimiento se relacionaría con una mayor práctica de medidas preventivas al respecto. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y las prácticas de prevención sobre cáncer de cuello uterino en pacientes del Instituto Regional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas, Arequipa 2023. Metodología: El método será hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, investigación de tipo aplicada, diseño correlacional de corte transversal. La población y la muestra de estudio estarán conformadas por 85 mujeres, siendo el muestreo de tipo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Para el procesamiento y análisis de datos provenientes de la encuesta, primero se sistematizará la información acopiada. Luego, se llevará a cabo el análisis estadístico descriptivo para obtener la distribución de frecuencias de las variables y de sus dimensiones. Para la prueba de hipótesis, con base en la distribución paramétrica de los datos, se empleará el coeficiente de correlación rho de Spearman. El soporte para dicho procesamiento lo dará el software SPSS versión 26.0
