Effectiveness of prophylaxis with drainage versus without drainage in abdominal surgery in preventing complications

Abstract

Objective: Systematize the evidence about the effectiveness of prophylaxis with drainage versus without drainage in abdominal surgery in the prevention of complications. Materials and Methods: The type of research was quantitative, the study design was a systematic review, the population was 23 articles and the sample was 10 articles published in the following databases: Scielo, Pubmed, Elvesier and Medline, using the GRADE system which evaluated the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendation. Results: In the present study it is evident that 100% of the articles reviewed systematically indicate the effectiveness of prophylaxis of the use of drainage in abdominal surgeries in the prevention of complications Conclusions: 10 out of 10 of the studies show the effectiveness of prophylaxis with drainage in abdominal surgeries in the prevention of complications, it is effective because: 50% demonstrate its effectiveness in anastomotic leak, the most serious postoperative complication, 30% demonstrate its effectiveness because it reduces the rate of patient mortality during the postoperative period and 20%, there is a better postoperative recovery, it is a useful procedure and reduces complications in the patient.

Objetivo: Sistematizar las evidencias acerca de la efectividad de la profilaxis con drenaje versus sin drenaje en cirugía abdominal en la prevención de complicaciones. Materiales y Métodos: El tipo de investigación fue de tipo cuantitativo, el diseño de estudio fue de revisión sistemática, la población fue de 23 artículos y la muestra de 10 artículos publicados en las siguientes bases de datos: Scielo, Pubmed, Elvesier y Medline, utilizando el sistema GRADE el cual evaluó la calidad de evidencia y la fuerza de recomendación. Resultados: En el presente estudio se evidencia que el 100% de artículos revisados sistemáticamente señalan la efectividad de la profilaxis del uso de drenaje en cirugías abdominal en la prevención de complicaciones Conclusiones: El 10 de 10 de los estudios evidencia la efectividad de la profilaxis con drenaje en cirugías abdominal en la prevención de complicaciones, es efectivo porque: el 50% evidencia su eficacia en fuga anastomótica la más grave complicación post operatoria, el 30% evidencia su eficacia porque reduce la tasa de mortalidad del paciente durante el post operatorio y el 20% hay una mejor recuperación post operatoria, es un procedimiento útil y disminuye las complicaciones en el paciente.
