Emotional intelligence and anxiety in nursing professionals in the emergency area in a hospital in Lima

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and anxiety levels among nursing professionals in the emergency unit of a public hospital in Lima. Methodology: A study was conducted with a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental design, correlational scope, and cross-sectional methodology. The sample consisted of 65 participants, with a census sampling approach since the entire population was included. Data were collected using two questionnaires. The first questionnaire, structured as a survey, measured emotional intelligence and consisted of 24 items distributed across three dimensions. The second instrument, also a survey, measured anxiety levels and comprised 14 items across two dimensions. These instruments provided the necessary data for the investigation. Results: The findings will be presented in frequency and percentage tables using descriptive and inferential statistics. Conclusion: The study aims to establish a relationship between the variables and set a precedent in the analysis of emotional intelligence and anxiety levels.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y el nivel de ansiedad en profesionales de enfermería en la unidad de emergencia de un hospital público de Lima. Metodología: Se desarrollo un estudio con enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicado, no experimental, de alcance correlacional y de corte transversal; en una muestra de 65 participantes, y la muestra será censal debido a que se utilizará la totalidad de la población. Los instrumentos que permitieron recolectar los datos fueron dos cuestionarios, el primero que medirá la inteligencia emocional es un cuestionario, estructurado como una encuesta, el cual comprende 24 ítems, distribuidas en 3 dimensiones; y el segundo es una encuesta, comprende 14 ítems, dentro de 2 dimensiones, las que emitirán los resultados correspondientes a la investigación. Resultados: Las evidencias serán presentadas en tablas de frecuencia y porcentaje, utilizando la estadística descriptiva e inferencia. Conclusión: Se busca relacionar las variables; y marcar un precedente en la inteligencia emocional y el nivel de ansiedad.
