Level of knowledge about sexually transmitted infections and risky sexual behavior in obstetrics students at the Norbert Wiener Private University-2023

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and risky sexual behavior among obstetrics students at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener - 2023. A quantitative, basic approach was adopted, using a hypothetical-deductive method with an observational, correlational, non-experimental, and cross-sectional research design, analyzing a sample of 103 students. The survey was used as the technique and the questionnaire as the study instrument. The results reveal a correlation between the level of knowledge about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and risky sexual behavior in students. The Spearman correlation coefficient obtained was 0.321 with a significance level of 0.001 (bilateral), indicating a positive, low-magnitude correlation between these variables. Since the p-value (0.001) is considerably lower than the established significance level (α = 0.05), the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, thus validating the existence of a statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge about STIs and risky sexual behavior in these university students from Lima. This correlation suggests that an increase in the level of knowledge about STIs is related, to some extent, to a better attitude towards risky sexual behavior in this group of university students in Lima.

Es un estudio de tipo observacional, descriptivo, retrospectivo de revisión sistemática de una historia clínica de rotura hepática asociada a preeclampsia severa manejada en el Hospital Regional de Cajamarca ocurrida el 30 de junio 2017. Se incluyeron antecedentes personales, familiares y patológicos, examen general y específico, diagnóstico, exámenes auxiliares, manejo obstétrico, complicación con rotura hepática, referencia al Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal, evolución clínica y alta. Se hizo revisión de la literatura sobre un caso clínico. Resultados: Se presenta un caso clínico de una multigesta de 32 años de edad, con 39 semanas de edad gestacional con parto vaginal domiciliario que en el puerperio inmediato evoluciona con hemorragia postparto y dolor epigástrico por lo que es referida del Centro de Salud José Sabogal al Hospital Regional de Cajamarca con diagnóstico de Puérpera de 11 horas + shock hipovolémico. En los exámenes destaca: hemoglobina: 8.6 g%, plaquetas 184.000 por mm3, TGO 564 UI/L, TGP 299 UI/L, Tiempo de coagulación: 8 segundos, Tiempo de sangría: 4 minutos, Tiempo de protrombina: 21.3 segundos. Ecografía abdominal se evidencia líquido libre peri hepático ± 1500 cc. Fue sometida a laparotomía exploratoria + empaquetamiento hepático por presentar preeclampsia severa + Síndrome HELLP + rotura hepática + hemoperitoneo masivo. El hallazgo intraoperatorio fue hematoma subcapsular que compromete el lóbulo derecho en casi su totalidad y ruptura a nivel del segmento VI hepático. Recibió 7 paquetes globulares y 6 de plasma fresco congelado previo consentimiento informado. Al 2° día postoperatorio presenta evolución desfavorable por lo que es referida al Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal para continuar su manejo de alta complejidad en UCIM. La evolución fue favorable y fue contra referida a su hospital de origen.
