Knowledge and practices about exclusive breastfeeding in mothers of children under 6 months of age in a health center, Lima – 2023

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices on exclusive breastfeeding in mothers of children under 6 months of age at a Health Center, Lima - 2023. Methodology: The research was developed using a hypothetical-deductive study method, with a quantitative approach, applied type, correlational scope, non-experimental and cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 108 mothers; the data collection technique was the survey; The instruments used were a 15-question questionnaire to measure knowledge, and an observation list was used for the practice variable. Results: It was found that 54.6% of mothers presented medium level knowledge, 38% high level and 7.4% low level. On the other hand, regarding practices, 75% evidenced regular practices, 16.7% good practices and 8.3% bad practices. Likewise, a relationship was found between the dimensions of general concepts, benefits and breastfeeding techniques with practices, where the d p value was less than 0.05. Conclusion: It is concluded by determining that there is a positive correlation between knowledge and practices, where Rho = 0.424; on the other hand, there is evidence of a relationship between the variables where the p value = 0.000.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y las prácticas sobre lactancia materna exclusiva en madres de niños menores de 6 meses de un Centro de Salud, Lima – 2023. Material y método: La investigación fue desarrollada mediante un método de estudio hipotético – deductivo, de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicado, de nivel correlacional, de diseño no experimental y de corte transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 108 madres; la técnica de recolección de datos fue la encuesta; los instrumentos utilizados fueron un cuestionario de 15 preguntas para medir el conocimiento, y para la variable practicas se utilizó una lista de observación. Se concluye determinando que existe una correlación positiva morderá entre los conocimientos y las prácticas, donde Rho = 0,424; por otra se evidencia relación entre las variables donde el valor p = 0,000
