Iron definition anemia and risk factors that they influence children under 5 years of age in the Health Center Unidad Vecinal Nº 3 during the year 2023

Abstract

Currently, in Peru, the prevalence of anemia remains high, according to the latest demographic and health surveys conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics. Anemia continues to be one of the most common diseases in children, which is why the objective of this research is to determine the relationship between iron-deficiency anemia and risk factors in children under 5 years old at the Unidad Vecinal No. 3 health center during 2023. The study follows a hypothetical-deductive research method, aiming to test a hypothesis, and later obtain conclusions based on findings. The study has a quantitative approach based on statistical measurement and analysis, allowing the construction of theories. It is applied research, focusing on identifying how scientific knowledge can address or solve a specific practical need. The research design is observational, as the study will be conducted without manipulating variables, and data will be analyzed from phenomena in their natural context. Additionally, it is cross-sectional with a descriptive correlational focus, as data collection occurs at a single point in time.

Actualmente en el Perú, el porcentaje de prevalencia de anemia sigue siendo alta, según las últimas encuestas demográficas y salud familiar realizado por el Instituto Nacional de estadística e Informática. La anemia continúa siendo una de las muchas enfermedades más habituales en los niños, motivo por el cual, el objetivo de esta investigación es determinar la relación entre la anemia ferropénica y los factores de riesgo que influyen en niños menores de 5 años en el centro de salud Unidad Vecinal N° 3, durante el año 2023. El estudio comprende un método de investigación hipotético deductivo, a partir de una hipótesis, que busca refutar, para posteriormente obtener conclusiones que deben ser contrastados con los hallazgos. El estudio comprende un enfoque cuantitativo, a partir de la medición y análisis estadístico que nos permita construir teorías. Según su propósito es tipo aplicada, ya que se enfoca en identificar a través del conocimiento científico los medios por los cuales se puede construir o solucionar una necesidad práctica y especifica. El diseño de la investigación es observacional, puesto que el estudio se realizará sin manipulación de las variables, es a partir de fenómenos en su contexto natural en donde se realizará el análisis. Además, es de corte transversal con enfoque descriptivo correlacional, puesto que la recolección de datos se realiza en un solo momento del tiempo.
