Level of knowledge of new mothers about exclusive breastfeeding in the growth and development service of a health center – Lima 2020.

Abstract

Breastfeeding knowledge is the mother's ability to naturally understand, comprehend, or experience the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, as well as the reasons why the child should only receive breast milk and its benefits for the child, mother, society, and the state, thus preventing infant morbidity and mortality. For this, the nursing professional at first-level health centers must promote, protect, and support exclusive breastfeeding through educational sessions, aiming to bring about lifestyle changes. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of first-time mothers about exclusive breastfeeding who attend the Growth and Development Control service at a Health Center in Lima, 2020. Materials and methods: This study is quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional. The data collection technique used is the survey. The instrument is the questionnaire.

El conocimiento de la lactancia materna, es la capacidad que tiene la madre de conocer, comprender de forma natural o mediante experiencias, vivencias propias, sensaciones, percepciones diferenciándose entre una y otra persona según nivel de cultura que posee a través del aprendizaje, cuán importante es para el niño la leche materna exclusiva, influenciando así la razón, del por qué debe recibir solo leche materna y cuan beneficioso es para el niño, la madre, sociedad y el estado, logrando prevenir la morbimortalidad infantil. Para ello el profesional de Enfermería de los centros de salud del primer nivel de atención debe promover, proteger y apoyar a la lactancia materna exclusiva mediante sesiones educativa y así producir cambios en sus estilos de vida. Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento de las madres primerizas sobre lactancia materna exclusiva, que acuden al servicio de Control de Crecimiento y Desarrollo de un Centro de Salud – Lima 2020. Material y métodos: El presente estudio es de enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, de tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal. Para el proceso de recolección de datos la técnica utilizada es la encuesta. El Instrumento, es el cuestionario.
