Knowledge about basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and practice in nursing professionals of the emergency service of a hospital in Lima, 2022

Abstract

Within the emergency service, the casuistries that are treated are diverse and all of them require extensive specialization on the part of the nursing professionals, even more so in the case of cardiac episodes or those that involve critical difficulties in breathing, since they imply the need for immediate help; however, it has been possible to detect that knowledge regarding basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation in nurses is still insufficient, a situation that leads to inadequate practices that seriously risk the life of the patient. OBJECTIVE: Determine what is the relationship between knowledge about basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and practice in nursing professionals from the emergency service of a hospital in Lima, 2022. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The hypotheticaldeductive method will be used, with a quantitative approach, basic type and nonexperimental design. 50 intensive care nurses will participate. The technique that will be used is the survey and the instruments will be a questionnaire and a checklist.

Dentro del servicio de emergencia las casuísticas que se atienden son diversas y todas ellas requieren de amplia especialización por parte de los profesionales de enfermería, más aún en el caso de episodios cardíacos o aquellos que involucran dificultades críticas en la respiración dado que implican la necesidad de auxilio inmediato; sin embargo se ha podido detectar que los conocimientos respecto a reanimación cardiopulmonar básico en enfermeros aún son insuficientes, situación que lleva a prácticas inadecuadas que ponen en grave riesgo la vida del paciente. OBJETIVO: Determinar cuál es la relación entre conocimiento sobre reanimación cardiopulmonar básico y práctica en profesionales de enfermería del servicio de emergencia de un hospital de Lima, 2022. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se empleará el método hipotético deductivo, con enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo básica y diseño no experimental. Participarán 50 enfermeros de emergencia. La técnica que se utilizará es la encuesta y los instrumentos serán un cuestionario y una lista de cotejo.
