Nursing interventions in the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction in emergency units

Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the evidence on nursing interventions in patients with acute myocardial infarction in emergency units. Materials and Methods: This is a bibliographic review consisting of 10 research articles, both national and international. The search was conducted using the following databases: LIPECS, LILACS, SCIELO, MEDLINE, and COCHRANE PLUS. It is a quantitative study with a systematic and cross-sectional design. Results: Ten articles were selected, of which 40% (4) were from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, 30% (3) from England and Ireland, and 10% (1) from Argentina and Chile, respectively. The majority of the studies were randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews, with 70% coming mainly from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Randomized trials were found from England, the Netherlands, and the United States, accounting for 30%, and 20% were descriptive cross-sectional studies from Argentina and Brazil. The review of the analyzed articles revealed that 90% affirm that various nursing interventions reduce the risk in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Conclusions: It was observed during the development of this study that nursing interventions directed at patients with acute myocardial infarction increase knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about acute coronary syndrome.

Objetivos: Evaluar las evidencias sobre las intervenciones de enfermería en pacientes con infarto agudo de miocardio en unidades de emergencia.

Materiales y métodos: Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica que consta de 10 artículos de investigación, tanto nacionales como internacionales. Se realizó la búsqueda mediante las bases de datos: LIPECS, LILACS, SCIELO, MEDLINE y COCHRANE PLUS. Es un estudio cuantitativo de diseño sistemático y transversal.

Resultados: Se seleccionaron 10 artículos, donde el 40% (4) corresponden a Reino Unido y Holanda, el 30% (3) a Inglaterra e Irlanda, y un 10% (1) a Argentina y Chile, respectivamente. Se obtuvo, en su mayoría, estudios de ensayos controlados aleatorios y revisiones sistemáticas, con un 70% pertenecientes principalmente a los países de Reino Unido y Holanda. De ensayos aleatorios, encontramos estudios provenientes de Inglaterra, Holanda y Estados Unidos, con un 30%, y con un 20% obtenemos estudios descriptivos transversales pertenecientes a Argentina y Brasil. Como resultado de la revisión de los artículos analizados, el 90% afirma que las diversas intervenciones de enfermería disminuyen el riesgo en pacientes con infarto agudo de miocardio (IMA).

Conclusiones: Se observó durante el desarrollo de este estudio que las intervenciones de enfermería dirigidas al paciente con infarto agudo de miocardio incrementan los conocimientos, actitudes y creencias sobre el síndrome coronario agudo.
