Environmental factors and stress level of the premature newborn in the Neonatal Units of a Specialized Institute, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Neonatal Units are environments where environmental factors predominate, such as noise from incubators, alarms and monitors, excessive illumination of lamps and spotlights in the environment and unnecessary handling during procedures, which alter the stress level of the patient. neonate during its extrauterine adaptation in the hospital environment, therefore, it is expected that the issue will be addressed to create alternative solutions that improve the quality of life and maturation of premature neonates. Objective: To determine the relationship between environmental factors and the stress level of the premature newborn in the Neonatal Units of a specialized Institute, 2023. Methods: Study with a quantitative approach, descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional. The census sample will be made up of 100 premature newborns from ten Neonatal Units of the Lima Maternity Hospital. An observation guide will be used as an instrument for variable 1 and a survey for variable 2, both prepared in 2009 by Bonifacio and modified in 2017 by Salas, with high validity and reliability, turning out to be reliable instruments. The collection and processing of the data will be by the Excel and SPSS program, using the chi-square test and the Spearman correlation coefficient to evaluate the relationship between the variables.

Introducción: Las Unidades Neonatales son ambientes donde predominan mucho los factores ambientales, como el ruido de las incubadoras, alarmas y monitores, la excesiva iluminación de las lámparas y focos del entorno y la innecesaria manipulación durante los procedimientos, que alteran el nivel de estrés del neonato durante su adaptación extrauterina en el entorno hospitalario, por ello, se espera que se aborde el tema para crear alternativas de solución que mejoren la calidad de vida y maduración de los neonatos prematuros. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre los factores ambientales y el nivel de estrés del recién nacido prematuro en las Unidades Neonatales de un Instituto especializado, 2023. Métodos: Estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo descriptivo, correlacional, de corte transversal. La muestra censal estará conformada de 100 recién nacidos prematuros de diez Unidades Neonatales de la Maternidad de Lima. Se utilizará una guía de observación como instrumento para la variable 1 y una encuesta para la variable 2, ambas elaboradas en 2009 por Bonifacio y modificadas en 2017 por Salas, con una validez y confiabilidad alta, resultando ser instrumentos confiables. La recopilación y procesamiento de los datos será por el programa Excel y SPSS, empleando la prueba de chi – cuadrado y el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman para evaluar la relación entre las variables.
