Teacher training and academic performance in students of physical therapy and rehabilitation in a private university of Lima

Abstract

This research entitled "Teacher training and academic performance of students of the VI cycle of the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation of a university in Lima" during the period corresponding to 2018, was aimed at identifying the relationship between teacher training and the academic performance of the students, the same that constitute the study variables. It is a basic study, since the results speculate in theoretical knowledge, it is also framed in a quantitative approach, of non-experimental, correlational design, with descriptive scope of the indicated variables. There was a sample of 120 students and 22 teachers. An instrument, likert-type scale, was used for teachers, validated by expert judgment. The statistical correlation results showed that the mentioned variables have a moderate and negative association with a Sperman's Rho coefficient equal to -0.043; but that it was not significant, with a p value (0.849) was greater than 0.05. Similarity and differences were also found regarding the disciplinary, pedagogical and personal dimensions of teacher training and the academic performance of students with respect to the reviewed background.

La presente investigación titulada “Formación docente y el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes del VI ciclo de la Escuela de Terapia Física y Rehabilitación de una universidad de Lima” durante el periodo correspondiente al 2018, Estuvo orientada a identificar la relación existente entre la formación docente y el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes, las mismas que constituyen las variables de estudio. Es un estudio de tipo básico, ya que los resultados especulan en el conocimiento teórico, asimismo se enmarca en un enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, correlacional, con alcance descriptivo de las variables señaladas. Se contó con una muestra de 120 estudiantes y 22 docentes. Se empleó un instrumento, de escala tipo Likert, para los docentes, validado por juicio de expertos. Los resultados estadísticos de correlación mostraron que las variables en mención tienen una moderada y negativa asociación con un coeficiente Rho de Sperman igual a -0,043; pero que no fue significativa, con un p valor (0.849) mayor a 0,05. Se encontró, también, semejanza y diferencias respecto a las dimensiones disciplinar, pedagógica y personal de la formación docente y el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes respecto a los antecedentes revisados.
