Quality of life of the caregiver of patients with schizophrenia treated at the Wiñay community mental health center, 2020

Abstract

Objective: Determine the quality of life of the caregiver in patients with schizophrenia treated at the Community Mental Health Center, Wiñay, 2020. Material and methods: The approach will be quantitative, because the variables will be measured through the use of an instrument. The design will be transversal, because the data is collected punctually with respect to time. Furthermore, it will be descriptive because it will be observed and measured without manipulating variables. The technique to be used is the survey. The instrument that will be used is the WHOQOL BREF. The WHOQOL-BREF is made up of 26 items to provide a broad and comprehensive evaluation. The instrument should be self-administered if respondents have the necessary understanding of it, otherwise interviewer-assisted or interview-administered forms should be used. It contains 4 dimensions, which denote people's perception of the quality of life in these dimensions. Domain scores are scaled in a positive direction (i.e., higher scores indicate better quality of life). The mean score of the items within each dimension is used to calculate the dimension score. Once the conversions have been made, the final scores are on a scale of 0 – 100. In Peru it has been validated in various investigations. Leguía, in Peru, in the study “Quality of Life and coping strategies in older adults in Lima” carried out validity and reliability tests, finding a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.86. De la Cruz and collaborators, in 2014, also carried out a validation of expert judgment, obtaining high agreement rates.

Objetivo: Determinar la calidad de vida del cuidador en pacientes con esquizofrenia atendidos en el Centro de Salud Mental Comunitario, Wiñay, 2020. Material y métodos: El enfoque será cuantitativo, porque se medirán las variables a través del uso de instrumento. El diseño será transversal, porque los datos de recolectan en forma puntual respecto al tiempo. Además, será descriptivo porque se observará y medirá sin manipular variables. La técnica a emplearse es la encuesta. El instrumento que se utilizará es el WHOQOL BREF. El WHOQOL-BREF conformado por 26 ítems para proporcionar una evaluación amplia e integral. El instrumento debe auto administrarse si los encuestados tienen la comprensión necesaria del mismo, de lo contrario, se deben utilizar formularios asistidos por el entrevistador o administrados por la entrevista. Contiene 4 dimensiones, que denotan una percepción de las personas sobre la calidad de vida en dichas dimensiones. Los puntajes del dominio se escalan en una dirección positiva (es decir, los puntajes más altos indican mejor calidad de vida). La puntuación media de los elementos dentro de cada dimensión se utiliza para el cálculo del puntaje de la dimensión. Una vez realizadas las conversiones los puntajes finales se encuentran en una escala de 0 – 100. En el Perú ha sido validado en diversas investigaciones. Leguía, en el Perú, en el estudio “Calidad de Vida y estrategias de afrontamiento en adultos mayores de Lima” realizó pruebas de validez y confiabilidad encontrando un Alpha de Cronbach de 0,86. De la cruz y colaboradores, en el 2014, también realizaron una validación de juicio de expertos, obteniendo altos índices de concordancia.
