Effect of a manual therapy programo n pain intensity, joint range and functionality in patients with knee osteoarthritis at the regional hospital of Cusco,2023

Abstract

Several studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of manual therapy in improving pain and range of motion in various joints. As a result of this research, this study aims to improve the living conditions of our patients, with the main objective of demonstrating the effectiveness of a manual therapy program for patients with knee osteoarthritis attending the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation service at the Regional Hospital of Cusco, aiming to improve pain intensity, range of motion, and functionality. This research will employ a quantitative approach, experimental design, and quasi-experimental sub-design. The instruments used in this research will include the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) to measure pain, the inclinometer to measure range of motion, and the KOOS test to assess functionality, all of which have high validity and reliability.

Existen diversos estudios que demostraron la efectividad de la terapia manual en mejorar el dolor y rango articular en diversas articulaciones, debido a esta investigación, este estudio busca mejorar las condiciones de vida en nuestros pacientes teniendo como objetivo principal demostrar la efectividad de un programa de terapia manual en los pacientes con artrosis de rodilla que llegan al servicio de Medicina Física y Rehabilitación del Hospital Regional del Cusco, para mejorar la intensidad del dolor, rango articular y funcionalidad. Esta investigación será de enfoque cuantitativo, diseño experimental, sub diseño cuasi experimental. Los instrumentos utilizados en este trabajo de investigación serán: La prueba de Evaluación Visual Análoga para medir el dolor (EVA), el inclinómetro para medir el Rango Articular y el test de KOOS para evaluar la funcionalidad, los cuales tiene altos grados de validez y confiabilidad.
