Knowledge and practices regarding biosecurity measures of the intensive care unit nurse at a general intensive care clinic in Lima, 2024

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice. Biosecurity measures for nursing staff working in the General Intensive Care Units of a Clinic in Lima, 2024. Materials and methods: This study is observational, correlational, cross-sectional, and of a nonexperimental design. The cohort consists of 20 nurses working in intensive care units. A questionnaire and checklist are used for data collection. A 20-item questionnaire will be used to measure knowledge levels regarding biosecurity measures, and an 18-item checklist will be used to assess biosecurity practices. These tools are used with the prior informed consent of the participating collaborators. Results: The collected data are coded, tabulated, entered into an Excel database, and exported for processing with the SPSS version 25 statistical package. Descriptive statistical correlation analysis will use the chi-square test.

Materiales y métodos: Este estudio es observacional, correlacional, transversal, de diseño no experimental. La cohorte consta de 20 enfermeros que trabajan en unidades de cuidados intensivos. El cuestionario y la lista de cotejo se utilizan para la recopilación de datos. Se empleará un cuestionario de 20 ítems para medir los niveles de conocimiento respecto a las medidas de bioseguridad y para valorar las prácticas de bioseguridad se empleará una lista de cotejo constituida por 18 ítems. Estas herramientas se utilizan con el consentimiento informado previo de los colaboradores participantes. Resultados: Los datos recopilados se codifican, tabulan, ingresan a una base de datos de Excel y se exportan para su procesamiento con el paquete estadístico SPSS versión 25. Para el análisis de correlación estadística descriptiva se utilizará la prueba de chi-cuadrado.
