Depression level related to malnutrition in elderly patients hospitalized in the medical service of the central hospital of the Peruvian Air Force, Lima, 2022

Abstract

This research entitled Level of Depression and it’s related with malnutrition in elderly patients hospitalized in the medical service of the Central Hospital of The Air Force of Peru 2022, its main objective is analyzing the relationship between the level of depression and its association with malnutrition in elderly patients hospitalized in the medical service of Central Hospital FAP, Lima 2022. It’s a study with a quantitative approach, correlational scope, non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population and sample will be composed of elderly patients hospitalized in the Medicine Service of Central Hospital FAP, who are selected by inclusion and exclusion criteria. Two questionnaires will be used as measurement instruments for these variables. For the Depression variable, the Yessavage scale will be used through 15 questions with dichotomous response options measuring three dimensions. Meanwhile, for the Malnutrition variable, the Mini Nutritional Assessment questionnaire will be used, which will measure the nutritional status of hospitalized older adults through 16 questions with multiple response options. Normal, mild depression and established depression. The background and research of this study will be considered for the interpretation and discussion of the results.

El presente estudio de investigación titulado “Nivel de depresión relacionado con la malnutrición en los pacientes adultos mayores hospitalizados en el servicio de medicina del Hospital Central de la Fuerza Aérea del Perú”, tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre el Nivel de Depresión y su asociación con la malnutrición en los pacientes adultos mayores hospitalizados en el servicio de medicina del Hospital Central FAP, Lima 2022. El estudio es de enfoque cuantitativo, de alcance correlacional, diseño no experimental en corte transversal. La población y muestra estará compuesta por los pacientes adultos mayores hospitalizados en el Servicio de medicina del Hospital Central FAP, que cumplan los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se utilizará dos cuestionarios como instrumentos de medición de estas variables. Para la variable Depresión se usará la escala de Yessavage a través de 15 preguntas con opciones de respuestas dicotómicas midiendo las dimensiones. depresión leve y depresión establecida. En tanto, para la variable Malnutrición se usará el cuestionario Mini Nutritional Assessment, el cual medirá el estado nutricional de los adultos mayores hospitalizados a través de 16 preguntas con opciones de respuesta múltiple. Los antecedentes y la investigación del presente estudio se tendrán en cuenta para la interpretación y la discusión de los resultados.
