Anemia as a risk for psychomotor development in children under five years old

Abstract

Objective: Systematize the evidence about the risk of anemia that produces alterations in the psychomotor development of boys and girls under five years of age. Materials and Methods: Systematic review [SR], in a sample of 10 scientific publications, with a history of no more than five years and that responded to international and national published titles, in Spanish and English. Results: In this study, 10 articles were selected, where it is found that 60% (06/10) correspond to Colombia, Paraguay, Cuba, Peru, and Spain, while with 40% (04/10) we find Chile and Mexico, respectively. Mostly cross-sectional analytical studies have been studied with 40%, in Colombia, Argentina, Cuba and Paraguay, Peru with 10% contributed 1 quasi-experimental study, Cuba with 10% contributed 1 case and control study, Chile with 10% contributed 1 cohort study, Mexico with 10% contributed 1 randomized study respectively. Spain and Chile with 20% provided cross-sectional descriptive studies. Conclusions: The study concluded that anemia affects the psychomotor development of boys and girls under five years old, affecting their growth and learning.

Objetivo: Sistematizar la evidencia acerca del riesgo de la anemia que produce alteraciones en el desarrollo psicomotor de niños y niñas menores de cinco años. Materiales y Métodos: Revisión sistemática [RS], en una muestra de 10 publicaciones científicas, con un pasado no mayor de cinco años y que respondieron a títulos publicados internacionales y nacionales, en lengua hispano e inglés.Resultados:En este estudioseseleccionaron 10 artículos, donde se encuentra que el 60% (06/10) corresponden a Colombia, Paraguay, Cuba, Perú, y España, mientras que con un 40% (04/10) encontramos a Chile y México, respectivamente. Han sido estudiados en su mayoría estudios trasversales analíticos con un 40%, en el lugar de Colombia, Argentina, Cuba y Paraguay, Perú con un 10% aportó 1 estudio cuasi experimental, Cuba con un 10% aportó 1 estudio caso y controles, Chile con un 10% aportó 1 estudio de cohorte, México con un 10% aportó 1 estudio de aleatorizado respectivamente. España y Chile con un 20% aportaron estudios descriptivos transversales. Conclusiones: El estudio concluyó que la anemia afecta el desarrollo psicomotor de niños y niñas menores cinco años, afectando su crecimiento y aprendizaje.
