Risk factors related to syphilis in pregnant

Abstract

Identify scientific articles reviewed the risk factors for syphilis in pregnant women treated in a specific period. Narrative, qualitative study, information was collected from various published research articles, common thesis studies that describe, analyze published information on a specific topic of sociodemographic factors related to syphilis in pregnant women. The most relevant results were: regarding sociodemographic characteristics, pregnant women with a marital status of cohabitation, being housewives, having secondary education. In addition, personal characteristics and sexual behavior are evident, that the age of initiation of sexual relations was younger than 18 years, they do not use condoms during sexual relations, they have less than three sexual partners, increasing the risk of contracting other STDs such as HIV. Conclusions: It is evident that, although the beginning of sexual relations was early, the age with the highest cases of syphilis in pregnant women has been between 20 and 35 years; They do not use condoms during sexual relations, and they have less than three sexual partners. Therefore, Preventive Promotional Programs on STDs and condom use must be implemented with emphasis on the population of reproductive age.

El estudio fue pre - experimental con pre test y pos test, prospectivo de corte transversal. Estuvo constituida por 71 gestantes que participaron del programa de psicoprofilaxis obstétrica. En nuestros resultados se observó que la edad media de las participantes fue de 26.6 ± 7.6 años, el 57.7% tuvo una edad en el rango de 20 a 34 años, el 56.3% tenía al menos educación secundaria y el 62% declaró ser conviviente. Antes y después de la aplicación del programa educativo, el 32.4% y 97.2% presentó un buen nivel de conocimientos sobre Lactancia materna exclusiva en promedio por las 3 áreas: práctica, importancia y técnica, respectivamente. Esta diferencia fue estadísticamente significativa (p<0.000). Concluimos que el programa educativo resultó tener un efecto positivo para la mejora del nivel de conocimientos acerca de lactancia materna exclusiva entre las gestantes incluidas en este estudio, ya que hemos logrado demostrar que, realizando programas educativos, contribuimos a empoderar conocimientos que tiene la lactancia materna exclusiva desde sus inicios.
