Level of overload of the family caregiver of the patient with schizophrenia of the mental health service of the central military hospital year 2020

Abstract

Aim. Determine the level of overload of the caregiver of the patient with schizophrenia of the Mental Health Service of the Central Military Hospital, 2020. Materials and methods. The study will have a quantitative approach, the methodological design is of the non-experimental descriptive cross-sectional type. The population will consist of relatives of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia from the Mental Health area of ​​the Central Military Hospital treated in the service, between the months of October and November 2020, being chosen under the different inclusion and exclusion criteria. The technique used in the field work will be the survey, which will give a broader representation of the study carried out. The Zarit Caregiver Overload Scale will be used as an instrument to measure the level of this in responsible family members, which is based on a 22-question questionnaire, describing the possible situations in which family caregivers may find themselves, adding up to a global score (22 - 110 points) classifying the tutor as: “absence of overload” (≤46); “light overload” (47-155); “intense overload” (≥56). The answers will have a score, which will be distributed as follows: Never (0), Almost Never (1), Sometimes (2), Frequently (3), Always (4).

Objetivo. Determinar el nivel de sobrecarga del cuidador del paciente con esquizofrenia del Servicio de Salud Mental del Hospital Militar Central, 2020. Materiales y métodos. El estudio será de enfoque cuantitativo, el diseño metodológico es del tipo no experimental descriptivo de corte transversal. La población estará constituida por familiares de pacientes diagnosticados con esquizofrenia del área de Salud Mental del Hospital Militar Central atendidos en el servicio, entre los meses de octubre y noviembre del 2020, siendo elegidas bajo los diferentes criterios de inclusión y exclusión. La técnica utilizada en el trabajo de campo será la encuesta, la que dará una representación más amplia del estudio realizado. Se usará como instrumento la Escala de Sobrecarga del Cuidador de Zarit para medir el nivel de esta en los familiares responsables, la cual se fundamenta en un cuestionario de 22 preguntas, describirán las posibles situaciones en las que puedan encontrarse los familiares cuidadores, sumándose en un puntaje global (22 - 110 puntos) clasificando al tutor en: “ausencia de sobrecarga” (≤46); “sobrecarga ligera” (47-155); “sobrecarga intensa” (≥56). Las respuestas tendrán una puntuación, las cuales serán distribuidas de la siguiente forma: Nunca (0), Casi Nunca (1), Algunas Veces (2), Frecuentemente (3), Siempre (4).
