Enteral feeding and nutritional status of premature newborns in the intensive care unit of a public hospital in Lima – 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Nutrition in premature newborns is a process of vital importance for the survival, growth and mental development of the infant, therefore the administration and role of the nursing professional are necessary. Objective: To determine the relationship between enteral feeding and the nutritional status of premature newborns in the Intensive Care Unit of a Public Hospital in Lima- 2023. Methods: the study has a hypothetical deductive method, based on a quantitative approach, and the basic type, with a descriptive correlational method and with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The population will be made up of 60 premature infants in intensive care units. For data collection, the instrument prepared by Cabrera "Feeding type registration form" will be used to measure the enteral feeding variables and the Frenton instrument "Growth curves", both instruments with adequate validity and reliability processes to be administered. The collected data will be processed to the SPSS version 24 database to carry out the descriptive analysis in the representation of tables and graphs and the inferential analysis for correlation of the variables with the use of Spearman's coefficient. These results will allow to establish the discussion and conclusions and recommendations.

Introducción: La nutrición en los recién nacidos prematuros es un proceso de vital importancia para la sobrevida, crecimiento y desarrollo mental del lactante, por ello la administración y rol del profesional de enfermería son necesarios. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre la alimentación enteral y el estado nutricional de los recién nacidos prematuros de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de un Hospital Público de Lima- 2023. Métodos: el estudio tiene un método hipotético deductivo, basado en un enfoque cuantitativo, y el tipo básica, con un método descriptivo correlacional y con un diseño no experimental y de corte transversal. La población estará conformada por 60 prematuros en las unidades de cuidados intensivos. Para recolección de datos se usará el instrumento elaborado por Cabrera “Ficha de registro del tipo de alimentación” para medir las variables alimentación enteral y el instrumento de Frentón “Curvas de crecimiento “, ambos instrumentos con procesos de validez y confiablidad adecuados para ser administrados. Los datos recolectados serán procesados a la base de datos del SPSS versión 24 para realizar el análisis descriptivo en la representación de tablas y gráfico y el análisis inferencial para correlación de las variables con el uso de coeficiente de Spearman., dichos resultados permitirán establecer la discusión y conclusiones y recomendaciones.
