Knowledge about immunization and its relationship with compliance with the vaccination schedule in mothers of children under 5 years of age at the Barranca Hospital – 2020

Abstract

Introduction: Immunizations save between 2 and 3 million lives each year. It is one of the most successful and cost-effective public health interventions. At a global level, in recent years, the percentages of children who receive the coverage of recommended vaccines to improve the health of the population have varied. Thus, throughout the world, it was achieved that 85% of infants were administered three doses of ( DPT3) vaccine that protects against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis infectious diseases that cause disorders, disabilities and even death where it finally achieved 90% coverage of this vaccine. Currently, vaccines protect children very well, but despite this, one in five children under 1 year of age does not receive the basic vaccines they need to survive and stay healthy. Objective: determine the relationship between knowledge about immunizations and compliance with the vaccination schedule in mothers of children under 5 years of age at the Barranca hospital - 2020 Methodology: A descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study will be carried out. The study population will be made up of 132 mothers with children under 5 years of age who attend the vaccination center at the Barranca Hospital, to whom the questionnaire on Knowledge about Immunizations and Compliance with the Vaccination Schedule will be applied as an instrument. The data obtained will be tabulated and statistically processed, applying the SPSS 22 statistical package and Excel.

Introducción: las inmunizaciones salvan entre 2 y 3 millones de vidas cada año. Es una de las intervenciones de salud pública de costos eficaces y de más éxito. A nivel mundial en los últimos años han variado los porcentajes de los niños que reciben la cobertura de vacunas recomendadas para mejorar la salud de la población Es así que en todo el mundo se alcanzó que al 85% de los lactantes se administraron tres dosis de (DPT3) vacuna que protege contra la difteria, tétanos y tos ferina enfermedades infecciosas que ocasionan trastornos, discapacidades e incluso la muerte donde finalmente logro el 90% de la cobertura de esta vacuna. Actualmente las vacunas protegen muy bien a los niños, pero a pesar de eso, uno de cada cinco niños menores de 1 año no recibe las vacunas básicas que necesita para sobrevivir y mantenerse sanos. Objetivo: determinar la relación entre el conocimiento sobre inmunizaciones y el cumplimiento del calendario de vacunación en madres de niños menores de 5 años en el hospital de Barranca – 2020 Metodología: Se realizará un estudio de tipo descriptivo, no experimental, transversal. La población del estudio estará conformada por 132 madres con niños menores de 5 años que acuden al vacunatorio del Hospital de Barranca, a las que se le aplicara como instrumento el cuestionario sobre Conocimiento sobre Inmunizaciones y Cumplimiento del Calendario de Vacunación. Los datos obtenidos serán tabulados y procesados estadísticamente, aplicando el paquete estadístico SPSS 22, y Excel.
