Level of knowledge of biosafety and practices against biological risks in nursing interns at the Norbert Wiener University, Lima – 2022

Abstract

The objective of the present study titled "Level of Biosecurity Knowledge and Practice in the face of Biological Risks among Nursing Interns at the Norbert Wiener University, Lima - 2022" was to identify the connection between the level of biosecurity knowledge and how nursing interns at the university cope with biological risks. The methodology used was quantitative, applicative, and correlational, using a sample of 382 nursing students. The results revealed a positive and moderate correlation, statistically significant, with a Spearman coefficient of 0.5902. It is concluded that there is a direct relationship between the variables studied, especially in the dimensions of universal biosecurity measures, segregation and disposal of hospital waste, and nosocomial biological risk. These findings highlight the importance of disseminating knowledge about biosecurity to promote appropriate practice in the face of biological risks.

El objetivo del presente estudio titulado “Nivel de conocimiento de bioseguridad y la práctica frente a riesgos biológicos en internos de enfermería de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima - 2022“ fue identificar la conexión entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre bioseguridad y la forma en que se enfrentan a los riesgos biológicos los internos de enfermería de dicha universidad. La metodología utilizada fue de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicativo y de diseño correlacional, empleando una muestra de 382 estudiantes de enfermería. Los resultados revelaron una correlación positiva y moderada, estadísticamente significativa, con un coeficiente de Spearman de 0.5902. Se concluye que existe una relación directa entre las variables estudiadas, especialmente en las dimensiones de medidas universales de bioseguridad, segregación y eliminación de residuos hospitalarios, y riesgo biológico nosocomial.
