factors associated with the abandonment of exclusive breastfeeding in adolescents

Abstract

Design: This study was a systematic narrative non-experimental, retrospective review based on an electronic search in virtual libraries. Study scope: This systematic review study selected original scientific articles and thesis research from the Renati SUNEDU database, with a maximum age of 7 years. Study subjects: A total of 30 scientific articles were considered. Determinants: Maternal, socioeconomic, and cultural factors are the independent variables, while the abandonment of exclusive breastfeeding represents the dependent variable. Results: The most prominent maternal factors were insufficient milk and self-efficacy; the socioeconomic factors included working during the first six months of the child's life and income level; while cultural factors highlighted the fear of damaging the breasts and the husband's support seen through a gender perspective. Conclusions: The factors significantly associated with the abandonment of exclusive breastfeeding in adolescents were grouped into three categories: maternal, socioeconomic, and cultural, with maternal factors showing the highest odds ratio values.

El objetivo del estudio es escribir evidencias científicas sobre las características sociales y culturales de la anticoncepción hormonal de emergencia en mujeres en edad fértil. El material, métodos y la metodología a desarrollar en el estudio fue una revisión narrativa de tipo cualitativa, conformado por 28 artículos publicados en: Scielo, Pubmed, Dialnet Y DOAJ. Se utilizó el sistema GRADE para evaluar la fuerza de recomendación de cada artículo revisado, obteniendo: el 35% fueron de tipo descriptivo transversal, mientras que el 31% fueron de nivel moderado. Las características sociales fueron: 50% con edad entre 16 a 19 años, el 82% solteras, el 83% estudiantes y el 72% provienen de zona urbana. Las características culturales fueron: el 68% tuvieron estudios de nivel secundario, el 65% no tenían conocimiento del anticonceptivo de emergencia y el 61% lo usa por lo menos 1 a 2 veces al año. La conclusión del estudio es que existen evidencias científicas de nivel moderado sobre las características sociales y culturales de la anticoncepción hormonal de emergencia en mujeres en edad fértil
