Level of anxiety in the preoperative period and its relationship with pain management in patients undergoing total gastrectomy in the general surgery service of a national hospital in Lima - 2023

Abstract

Patients who are going to undergo surgery usually go through not so pleasant experiences, one of them anxiety and pain, these two are very important to know since this can prevent possible complications. The objective of this research project is to analyze the relationship between the level of anxiety in the preoperative period and pain management in patients undergoing total gastrectomy in the General Surgery Service of a National Hospital in Lima - 2023. This research has a quantitative approach, non-experimental design. There will be a population of 110 patients who are scheduled for total gastrectomy. The survey technique will be used and the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) will be applied to measure anxiety and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to evaluate pain; Both instruments have been validated by expert judgment and the reliability of the Anxiety instrument was carried out by Mejía, in 2009 with a Crombach's alpha of 0.89; In the case of the Canorio and Cardenas VAS Scale in 2021, they determined a score of 0.96, in Crombach's alpha; thus determining that both tests are reliable. The results will be collected, processed, coded in the data matrix designed in Excel to be later presented in corresponding tables and graphs.

Los pacientes que van a ser intervenidos quirúrgicamente suelen pasar por experiencias no tan agradables, una de ellas la ansiedad y el dolor, estos dos son muy importantes de conocer ya que con ello se puede prevenir posibles complicaciones. El presente proyecto de investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la relación del nivel de ansiedad en el preoperatorio con el manejo del dolor en pacientes sometidos a gastrectomía total en el Servicio de Cirugía General de un Hospital Nacional de Lima - 2023. Esta investigación tiene enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental. Se tendrá una población de 110 pacientes que son programados a gastrectomía total. Se empleara la técnica de encuesta y se aplicara el Inventario de Ansiedad Estado-Rasgo de Spielberger (STAI) para medir la ansiedad y la Escala Visual Analógica (EVA) para evaluar el dolor; ambos instrumentos han sido validados por juicio de expertos y la confiabilidad del instrumento de Ansiedad fue realizada por Mejía, en el 2009 con un alfa de Crombach de 0,89; para el caso de la Escala de EVA Canorio y Cardenas en 2021, determinaron un puntaje de 0,96, en el alfa de Crombach; determinando así que ambas pruebas son confiables.
