Burnout syndrome and post pandemic resilience capacity in the nursing staff of the emergency service of the regional hospital of Ica 2023

Abstract

Introduction: nursing professionals have suffered a great impact on their mental health as a result of this cascade of stressful events that posed a total challenge of attention to those demands and pressures of the population that triggered the presence of the burnout syndrome in the work environment, so their resilience capacity is put to the test on a daily basis. Objective: to determine how burnout is related to the capacity for resilience in the nursing staff of the emergency service of the Regional Hospital of Ica, 2023. Materials and methods: research with a quantitative, non-experimental, applied, cross-sectional, correlational approach that uses the hypothetical deductive method to explore and describe the study phenomena by means of a survey in a census sample of 70 nursing professionals of the emergency service of the Regional Hospital of Ica, from October to December 2023. For which, adapted, validated and reliable instruments such as the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI Survey Human) will be used to assess burnout and the Resilience Scale (ER - 14) of Wagnild & Young to measure the resilience capacity of these professionals. For data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics such as Spearman's correlation coefficient will be used to measure the relationship and hypothesis testing.

Introducción: los profesionales de enfermería han sufrido un gran impacto en su salud mental producto de esta cascada de eventos estresantes que suponían un reto total de atención a esas demandas y presiones de la población que gatillaron la presencia del síndrome del trabajador quemado “Burnout” en los entornos laborales, por lo que su capacidad de resiliencia se pone a prueba día a día. Objetivo: determinar cómo el burnout se relaciona con la capacidad de resiliencia en el personal de enfermería del servicio de emergencias del Hospital Regional de Ica, 2023. Materiales y métodos: pesquisa de enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental, aplicada, de corte transversal, de alcance correlacional que usa el método hipotético deductivo para explorar y describir los fenómenos de estudio mediante la encuesta en una muestra censal de 70 profesionales de enfermería del servicio de emergencias del Hospital Regional de Ica, de octubre a diciembre de 2023. Para lo cual, se usarán instrumentos adaptados, validados y confiables como el Inventario de Burnout de Maslach (MBI Survey Human) para valorar el burnout y la Escala de resiliencia (ER – 14) de Wagnild & Young para medir la capacidad de resiliencia de estos profesionales. Para el análisis de los datos se usarán la estadística descriptiva e inferencial como el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman para medir la relación y la prueba de hipótesis.
