Attitude towards research in students from the eighth to the tenth cycle of dentistry of the Norbert Wiener University, Lima 2022

The purpose of this study was to determine the attitude towards research in students from the eighth to the tenth semester of Dentistry at Norbert Wiener University, Lima 2022. The study design is non-experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive in nature. The sample consisted of 197 students who were evaluated using the EACIN questionnaire. The results, based on descriptive statistics, show that the attitude towards research was positive in 64% of the students and very positive in 32.5%. In the affective dimension, the attitude was positive in 65%, followed by very positive in 23.9%; in the cognitive dimension, the attitude was very positive in 54.8%, followed by positive in 42.6%; and in the behavioral dimension, the attitude was positive in 63.5%, followed by very positive in 26.4%. According to the academic semester, the attitude was positive in 64.9% of the eighth semester, 67.3% of the ninth semester, and 60.6% of the tenth semester. Similarly, the attitude was positive in 61.6% of females and 67.3% of males, followed by very positive in 34.8% of females and 29.4% of males. It is concluded that the attitude towards research in students from the eighth to the tenth semester of Dentistry was positive.
Resumen
El presente estudio tuvo por propósito determinar la actitud hacia la investigación en estudiantes del octavo al décimo ciclo de Odontología de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima 2022. Por su diseño la investigación es no experimental, transversal y por su nivel descriptivo. La muestra lo constituyeron 197 estudiantes, quienes fueron evaluados con el cuestionario EACIN. Los resultados a partir de la estadística descriptiva evidencian que la actitud hacia la investigación fue positiva en el 64 % de los estudiantes y muy positiva en el 32,5%. En la dimensión afectiva fue una actitud positiva en el 65 % y seguido por la actitud muy positiva en el 23,9%; en la dimensión cognitiva la actitud fue muy positiva en el 54,8 % y seguido por la actitud positiva en el 42,6 %; y en la dimensión conductual la actitud fue positiva en el 63,5 % y seguido por la actitud muy positiva en el 26,4 %. Según el ciclo académico, la actitud fue positiva en el 64,9 % del octavo ciclo, en el 67,3% del noveno y en el 60,6 % del décimo ciclo. Igualmente, la actitud fue positiva en el 61,6 % del total del sexo femenino y en el 67,3 % del total del sexo masculino; seguido por la actitud muy positiva en el 34,8 % del total del sexo femenino y en el 29,4% del total del sexo masculino. Se concluye, que la actitud hacia la investigación en los estudiantes del octavo al décimo ciclo de Odontología fue una actitud positiva.
