Knowledge and practice of exclusive breastfeeding among mothers of infants under six months in a public hospital in Lima, Peru 2023

Abstract

Breastfeeding is the golden food for a newborn and mainly up to 6 months, since breastfeeding provides all the necessary nutrients that the child needs, serves as food and prevents multiple diseases, and is more economical. Objective: Determine the relationship that exists between the knowledge and practice of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers of children under 6 months. Material and method: quantitative, applied, transversal -non-experimental, descriptive and correlational research. The sample will be 80 mothers with children under 6 months of age who are exclusively breastfed; To measure the two variables, a questionnaire and an observation sheet will be used that will allow us to measure the knowledge and practice of the mothers. Both instruments were validated in 2021. The collected data will be emptied into prepared tables in Excel 2021 and from there transferred to SPSS vs. 27, which will be presented in tables and graphs for descriptive statistics and will also allow the hypotheses to be contrasted to determine relationships Inferential statistics If there is a relationship between the variables, the non-parametric Spearman Rho test will be applied

La lactancia materna es el alimento de oro, para un recién nacido y fundamentalmente hasta los 6 meses, ya que la lactancia materna aporta todos los nutrientes necesarios que el niño necesita, sirve como alimento y previene múltiples enfermedades, y es más económico. Objetivo: Determinar cuál es la relación que existe entre el conocimiento y práctica de lactancia materna exclusiva en madres de niños menores de 6 meses. Material y método: la investigación cuantitativa, aplicada, transversal -no experimental, descriptivo y correlacional. La muestra será de 80 madres con niños menores de 6 meses con lactancia materna exclusiva; para medir las dos variables se utilizarán un cuestionario y una ficha de observación que nos permitirán medir el conocimiento y práctica de las madres, ambos instrumentos fueron validados el año 2021. Los datos recopilados se vaciarán en tablas preparadas en Excel 2021 y desde allí se transferirán a SPSS vs. 27, las cuales serán presentadas en tablas y gráficas para la estadística descriptiva y además permitirán contrastar las hipótesis para determinar relaciones Estadística inferencial si existe relación entre las variables para ello se aplicará la prueba no paramétrica de Rho de Spearman.
