Factors that influence the abandonment or success of the treatment of patients with tuberculosis.

Abstract

Introduction: Pulmonary tuberculosis is an infectious and contagious disease and a public health problem worldwide. Objective: To systematize scientific articles on the factors that influence treatment compliance in users with tuberculosis. Material and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search has been restricted to systematic reviews with full text, published in the last 10 years, selected after being analyzed using the GRADE evaluation and identifying their scientific quality. Results: 40% (4/10) are systematic reviews, 30% (3/10) cohort studies and 30% (3/10) case-control studies. It is observed that when selecting scientific articles it was found that 60% (6/10) of evidence talks about knowledge about the disease, 30% (3/10) talk about family support, 10% (1/10) about work support, 10% (1/10) about directly observed treatment (DOT) and financing; and only 10% (1/10) stated that change of address is a factor that favors non-compliance, as well as being over 65 years of age. All the previously mentioned topics are factors that determine treatment compliance. Conclusions: Knowledge about the disease is the most influential factor in anti-tuberculosis treatment.

Introducción: la tuberculosis pulmonar es una enfermedad infectocontagiosa y problema de salud pública a nivel mundial. Objetivo: Sistematizar artículos científicos sobre los factores que influyen en el cumplimiento del tratamiento en usuarios con tuberculosis. Material y Métodos: Revisión sistemática observacional y retrospectiva, la búsqueda se ha restringido en revisiones sistemáticas con texto completo, publicados en los últimos 10 años, seleccionadas luego de ser analizadas utilizando la evaluación GRADE e identificando su calidad científica. Resultados: El 40% (4/10) son revisiones sistemáticas, 30% (3 /10) estudios de cohorte y 30% (3/10) casos y controles. Se observa que al efectuar la selección de artículos científicos se encontró que el 60% (6/10) de evidencias hablan sobre el conocimiento sobre la enfermedad, el 30% (3/10) hablan del apoyo familiar, 10% (1/10) del apoyo laboral, el 10% (1/10) del tratamiento directamente observado (DOT) y el financiamiento; y solo el 10% (1/10) establece que el cambio de domicilio es un factor que favorece el incumplimiento así como ser mayor de 65 años. Todos los temas previamente mencionados son factores que determinan el cumplimiento del tratamiento. Conclusiones: El conocimiento sobre la enfermedad es el factor más influyente en el tratamiento antituberculoso.
