Effectiveness of brief interventions to decrease the consumption of alcohol in patients who enter the emergency service.

Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevention of adverse events by nursing professionals in the Emergency Department.

Methodology: A quantitative study with a descriptive, cross-sectional design.

Population: The population consists of 25 nursing professionals from the Emergency Department of a hospital in Huacho, who will be selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample size was not calculated.

Data Collection Techniques and Instruments: The technique will be a survey, and the instrument will be a questionnaire titled "Prevention of Adverse Events by Nursing Professionals."

Procedures: Data collection will take place at the Essalud Huacho hospital, focusing on nursing professionals in the emergency department, and will be conducted in August 2021.

Validation: The instrument was subjected to an expert judgment test with an ordinal scale, and is therefore considered applicable to the study.

Reliability: To determine the reliability of the instrument, the Kuder-Richardson (KR 20) coefficient was used, with a result of 0.86, indicating that the reliability of the instrument is acceptable.

Objetivo: Sistematizar las evidencias sobre la efectividad de las intervenciones breves para disminuir el consumo de alcohol en pacientes que ingresan al servicio emergencia. Material y Métodos: Es una revisión sistemática retrospectiva y observacional sometidos a lectura analítica y usando el Sistema de Evaluación GRADE hacia el reconocimiento del nivel de evidencia de los artículos publicados en las subsecuentes bases de datos: Dialnet, PubMed, Sciencedirect, Epistemonikos, Researchgate y Scielo. Se encuentra diez artículos examinados sistematizadamente, siendo el 100% de alta calidad como se describe a continuación: el 20% (n= 2/10) es metanálisis, 40% (n= 4/10) son de revisión sistemática y el 40% (n= 4/10) son ensayos controlado aleatorizado y pertenecen a los países de Estados Unidos (60%), seguida de Canadá (20%), Alemania (10%) e Inglaterra (10%). Resultados: El 100% (n=10/10) señalan que las intervenciones breves son efectivas para disminuir la ingesta de la sustancia nocivas en los usuarios alcohólicos en el servicio de emergencia Conclusión: Las intervenciones breves son efectivas a fin de disminuir la ingesta de alcohol en los usuarios que ingresan al servicio de emergencia.
